Ministry Of Health To Launch An Island Wide Campaign To Educate People On HIV/AIDS

The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has decided to launch an island wide campaign to educate People on HIV/AIDS from rural level to urban level  including Politicians and Higher Officers according to Director General of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala .

Addressing a Media Seminar held at Health Education Bureau in Colombo this morning Dr.Mahipala has stated  he regretted  what has happened in Kuliyapitiya area over a six year old boy whom the people in the area believed as suffering from HIV./AIDS.

"A Section of people  not yet received the correct message on HIV/AIDS.Therefore the Health Ministry has decided to launch an island wide programme to educate all on the Disease.A special meeting regarding this was held at the Ministry yesterday(08) under the patronage of acting Health Minister Fiazal Kassim "He has stressed.

President Maithripala Sirisena has personally instructed the Health Ministry to launch a Island wide campaign to educate all sorts of people in the country on HIV/AIDS ,Dr.Mahipala has further stated.

According to Director General Of Health Services HIV/AIDS can only transmitted from infected person to a normal person through Sex,Blood Transfusion and Injecting Narcotic Drugs/ Sharing Needles .Through Air,Wind,Hugging,Kissing,Sharing Cloths,towels ,Toilets and  through Mosquito Bites the Disease cannot spread  he has revealed.

Ministry Of Education And Principle Of Trinity Collage -Kandy Have Signed An Agreement To Admit HIV/AIDS Rumored Child To The School

The Ministry Of Education and Principle of Trinity Collage -Kandy have signed an agreement this morning regarding the admission of HIV/AIDS rumored Six year old Kuliyapitiya Child to the Trinity Collage.

Accommodation for the child in question and his mother will be provided in Kandy according to the Ministry Of Education.

The above mentioned Six Year old Child has been refused to getting admitted to schools in Kuliaypitiya(In North Western Province) over rumors that his father and mother as well as the child himself infected with HIV/AIDS virus.

However doctors attached to the National Sexually Transmitted Diseases/AIDS Control Programme have assured that the child and his  mother are not infected with the virus which the parents of the school children in Kuliyapitiya and some education officials in the area refused to accept.

CID Officers Have Arrested Ven.Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero For Questioning Over Keeping An Elephant Calf Without A Licence

The Criminal Investigations  Department(CID) Officers have arrested Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero at his Alan Mathiniyarama Temple in Polhengoda(In Colombo) this noon for questioning regarding allegations leveled against him over kept two and half years old Elephant Calf inside the Temple.

However the Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero has stated the Elephant Calf in question was left inside his temple by someone else during a religious  ceremony(Pinkama) held there some time back and all he has done was raised the Elephant Calf with love and care.

Under the Sri Lankan law no one can keep an Elephant without a license and Uduwe Thero has been arrested for kept the Elephant Calf without a license CID has said.

Health Ministry Has Decided To Get More Kidneys From Brain Death Patients For Kidney Transplants

Due to the difficulty of getting a sufficient  amount of Kidneys to transplant for Kidney Failure Patients,The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous  Medicine has decided to take more Kidneys from Brain Death Patients with the approval of their relatives .

Through this decision Kidney Failure Patients who needs Kidney Transplants will be able to get a suitable Kidney for the transplants without any difficulty Dr.Mahipala has stressed.

Around 4000 to 5000 Kidney Patients are being reported from Sri Lanka annually Director General  Of Health Services said.


During First Two Months Of This Year Sri Lankan Computer Emergency Response Team Has Received 400 Internet Related Complaints

During the first two months of this year Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team has received around 400 complaints regarding the internet according to the Team.

Around 80% of these complaints were regarding fake Facebook accounts the Computer Emergency Response Team has said.

Complaints have been received regarding an unauthorized accessing to Facebook Accounts and a Money Racket conducted through E Mails as well  the team has stressed..
