Ten Persons Were Arrested At Nivithigala For Involved In Illegal Excavation Of Gem Pits

The Police Special Task Force Officers in Kahawatte have arrested 10 persons who were involved in illegal excavation of gem pits at Doloswala Area in Nivithigala (In Ratnapura District) along with equipment which used for excavation .

The suspects were later handed over to the Gem and Jewelry Authority in Ratnapura for further investigations according to Police Task Force.

A Pakistani National Who Swallowed 52 Narcotic Pills Has Been Arrested On His Arrival At Katunayake Air Port

A Pakistani National who swallowed 52 Narcotic Pills containing Heroin has been arrested on his arrival at Katunayaka Bandaranaike International Air Port today(07) by the Police Narcotic Unit at the Air Port.

The 28 year old suspect who arrived from Qatar has  been admitted to Negambo Hospital and after given medicine to work the bowels authorities have recovered 52 narcotic pills swallowed by the suspect containing 400 grammes of Heroin.

The Police have later taken a detention order from Negambo Court until 08th of March to keep the suspect for questioning.

The Police Narcotic Unit at  the Katunayake Air Port is conducting investigation on the incident.

Government Will Create 15,000 Fruit Villages During Next 3 Years-Minister Of Agriculture

The government will create 15,000 Fruit Villages within the Country during next 3 year period according to Minister Of Agriculture Duninda Dissanayake.

Under this 1000 Fruit Plants will be distributed  per a village to cultivate the Minister has said.The plants will be distributed according to the sizes of  land owned by farmers he has stressed.

The Minister Of Agriculture has made these remarks during the launching three year plan of National Programme on Toxin Free County (08).

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe To Make A Special Statement Tomorrow(08) At Parliament

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe is due to make a special statement tomorrow(08) at Parliament regarding  Current Economic Situation in the country and forthcoming development projects government is due to implement.

A special cabinet meeting was held last Friday (04) to discuss on current economic situation of the country and foreign debt.

It is widely believed that the government is concerned  to make a tax revision again.
