Sri Lanka Navy Have Arrested Two Persons Who Attempted To Smuggle 6.94 Kilo Grammes Of Gold By Hiding Under A Fishing Boat In Jaffna

Sri Lanka Navy have today(07) arrested two persons who attempted to smuggle 6.94 Kilo Grammes Of Gold worth around Rs.34.5 Million from a Fishing Boat(Dinghy) at Madugal Area in Jaffna(In Northern Province).

The two suspects who acted as Fishermen were attempting  to transfer the stock of Gold by hiding inside the Boat when they were arrested according to Navy.However Navy Officers have identified the Racketeers and detained them during a sudden raid carried out.

The Navy have handed over the two suspects along with the stock of Gold to Customs Officers in Jaffna for future course of action.

A Social Worker Of Baddegama Stabbed To Death On Saturday Night

A 36 year old Social Worker at  Baddegama(In Southern Province) Area has been stabbed to death by an unidentified person at Ankotuwelduwa Road in Baddegama last Saturday(05) night according to Police.

The deceased was stabbed to death while  he was travelling from a Motor Bicycle the Police have said.

Soon after the incident the residents of the area have admitted  36 year old victim Gayan Dilantha to Baddegama Hospital with critical injuries however he succumbed to his injuries upon admission sources said.
