"Rat Control Month "Has Been Declared In The Colombo City
Under the Rat Control Month the Public Health Department has today begun distributing 250,000 soap type Rat Control Method which destroying Rats to houses and Institutes which are at risk of escalating the rat population Dr.Wijemuni has said.
The Rat Population is rapidly increasing in Colombo City since few months due to the shortage of soap type Rat Control Method which the Public Health Department has used in the past to control Rats in the city the Colombo Chief Medical Officer has stressed.
"Now we have received the Soap Type Rat Control Method and distributing them to the relevant Houses and Institutions in Colombo City in view of controlling the rat population " he has said.
Colombo Fort.Pettah Manning Market,Borella Super Market and Maradana have been identified as places in Colombo City where the rat population is rapidly increasing.
Due to the increasing number of rat population there's a risk of spreading rat related diseases like "Leptospirosis"(Rat Fever),Tetanus,Rabies and The Plague Dr.Wijemuni has further said.

Two Schools In Mihintale Had Temporarily Closed Due To A Wild Elephant
Due to the rampage of the Wild Elephant two schools near by had closed as a precautionary measure and the schools are due to re open tomorrow(01).
The Wild Life Officials who arrived at the scene this evening are attempting to chased the Wild Elephant away to the forest the sources have said.
