Using Of "Laila" And "Surukku" Fishing Nets Have Been Banned From Today(21)

The period given to the Local Fishermen for stop using Fishing Nets   "Laila" and Surukku" while fishing in local waters will be concluded today(21) according to Government Information Department.

Accordingly using of above Fishing Nets   for fishing from today on wards  have been banned and those fishermen who are violating this ban will be fined with Rs.50,000 Information Department has announced.

By using of illegal Fishing Nets   "Laila" and "Surukku" it directly affects the small scale fisheries community and aquatic resources Officials have said.

Five Assistant Superintendents Of Police (ASP) have been transferred with immediate effect according to the Police Headquarters.

Accordingly an ASP attached to Narahenpita Police Transport Division has been transferred to Gampaha Police Division,an ASP attached to Gampaha Police Division has been transferred to Colombo Central Division ,an ASP attached to Colombo Central Division has been transferred to Colombo Crimes Division , an ASP attached to Police Headquarters has been transferred to Negambo Police Division and an ASP attached to Negambo Division has been transferred to Police Transport Division.

Airport Customs Officers Have Arrested A Sri Lankan With A Stock Of 10,200 Illegal Cigarettes

The Airport Customs Officers have yesterday (20) morning arrested a Sri Lankan with a stock of 10,200  illegal Cigarettes in his possession at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port.

The 40 year old suspect who is a resident of Madampe in Halawatha Area has been arrested after he arrived from a Qatar Air Line .The Stock of illegal cigarettes detained is estimated as worth Rs.102,000 according to Customs Officers,

The Airport Customs Officers have imposed a fine of Rs.40,000 over the suspect.
