Central Committee Of The Sri Lanka Freedom Party Has Decided To Suspend Party Membership Of Seven Heads Of Local Government Bodies

The Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) led by President Maithripala Sirisena has yesterday(12) decided to suspend the Party Membership of Seven heads of Local Government Bodies who have allegedly  acting against the Party and it's leadership with immediate effect.

The Central Committee of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)has also decided to commence disciplinary inquiries against these  Local Councillors sources said.

An urgent meeting of the SLFP Central Committee was held yesterday afternoon and during that meeting an unanimous  decision has taken not to agree any demands made by the joint opposition which supporting former president Mahinda Rajapakshe and seeking an independent representation at the Parliament.

SLFP Central Committee has also decided to take stern disciplinary action against any member goes against the party.

Fire Has Broken out Inside A Van At Southern Expressway

A Fire has broken out  inside of  a Van travelling from Welipanna(In Southern Province) to Kadwatha(In Colombo) on Southern Expressway(near 39th mile post) last noon causing traffic on the Expressway for a short period.

The Fire Brigade Officers  rushed to the scene and doused the fire according to reports.

The driver of the Van  who was the only one inside the  Van when fire has broken out manged to survive according to Police.

A Stock Of Arms Buried By LTTE During The War Period Have Been Unearthed .

A Stock of Arms including 27 Anti Personal Mines and Five Motor Bombs of 60 mili meter caliber believed to be buried by LTTE (Liberation Tigers Of Tamil Eelam ) Terrorists during the period of war with Sri Lankan Armed Forces have been unearthed by Madhu Police yesterday(12)with the help of Air Force Officers at a place near Madhu Kirisuddhan Jungle(In Northern Province).

The stock of Arms have been recovered following the intelligence reports received by Air Force Camp in Welankulam ,Wanni(In Northern Province) it has been reported.

President Maithripala Sirisena To Begin A Four Day Official Tour To Germany On Monday

The signing of a  Memorandum Of Understanding(MOU) between Sri Lankan and German Associations for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and seeking assistance to regain GSP+ Facility for Sri Lankan Apparel Sector are top in the agenda of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena's Official tour to Germany which begin this Monday(15) according to Government Sources.

President Sirisena is due to begin a four day Official Tour to Germany on this Monday per an invitation made by  German Government.This will be the first time that a Sri Lankan Head Of State visiting Germany after 43 years.

As the Sri Lankan Government has identified the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises as a major force which contributes the economic development of the country,generating employment and reducing the poverty ,government is aiming to facilitate these enterprises to enter to Export Market through the MOU due to be signed between Sri Lankan and Germany ,The Government has announced.

The Cabinet has last week approved the MOU due to be signed during President's German Tour and the Minister Of Industries And Commerce Rishard Baduideen is due to sign the MOU Behalf of the Sri Lankan Government.

Meanwhile another two Memorandum Of Understandings(MOU) are due to be signed by Sri Lankan Minister Of Higher Education and Highways with his German Counterpart on exchanging University Lecturers of Sri Lanka and Germany for research purposes and to establish a Sri Lankan Studies Section at the South Asia Institute affiliated to Heidelberg University and to appoint a Sri Lankan Academics to it's staff. .

Another MOU is due to sign between Sri Lanka and Germany during President's Tour to develop local sports with German Assistance .
