Cancer Patients In Local Society Are On The Increase -National Cancer Control Programme
The Cancer Patients in Sri Lankan Society are increasing rapidly according to National Cancer Control Programme.
According to the latest statistics 25% of the female cancer patients identified annually in Sri Lanka are suffering from Breast Cancer.Besides Breast Cancer other cancers like Oral,Lung and Cervical Cancers in the local society are on the increase the Cancer Control Programme said.
In the year 2009 alone 15,888 Cancer Patients have been identified in Sri Lanka Oncologists have revealed.
"One Third of the all Cancer Patients in the society can be cured through a healthy life style and medication " the Oncologists have stressed.
These facts have been revealed during a Media Seminar held yesterday(03) at Health Education Bureau in Colombo to mark World Cancer Day which falls today(04).

Air Port Customs Officers Have Arrested A Singaporean National
The Air Port Customs Officers have arrested a Singaporean National who attempted to smuggle a stock of foreign currency notes worth around 222 Lakhs to Singapore at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port early morning yesterday(03) .
The Customs Officers have arrested the suspect at the departure lounge of Air Port when he tried to board the plane PK-348 flying to Singapore .
Air Port Customs Officers have decided to handover the detained stock of foreign currencies to Colombo Central investigations Unit for taking an action.

Sri Lanka Celebrates 68th National Independence Day Tomorrow(04)
The 68th National Independence Day of Democratic Socialist Republic Of Sri Lanka falls tomorrow(04).Sri Lanka has gained independence from British Rule on 04th Of February 1948.
The National Independence Day Celebrations scheduled to be held tomorrow (04) at Galle Face Green in Colombo under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The National Independence Day Celebrations will be held in two sessions under the theme "Ekama Dayak-Maha Balayak"(One Nation-High Power) according to the Government.
The main ceremony which including tri forces guard of honor and procession will be held tomorrow morning under the patronage of President and in the evening a function to mark National Independence Day including traditional and cultural shows will be held from 7 p.m on wards at Galle Face Green in Colombo under the patronage of President Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe.The theme of the evening celebrations is "Nidahse Hadgasma"(Heartbeat Of Independence.
