Police Department To Take Disciplinary Action Against OIC Of Warakapola Police Station For Reporting To Duty Under The Influence Of Alcohol

The Police Department has decided to take a Disciplinary Action against the Officer In Charge (OIC) of  Warakapola(In Central Province) Police for reporting to the Duty under influence of Alcohol.

The OIC of the Warakapola Police has been produced before the Additional Judicial Medical Officer(JMO)of the Kurunagala Teaching Hospital this morning for a test under the directive of Assistant Superintendent Of Police(ASP) in Kurunagala District and the Additional JMO has confirmed through the test report that OIC was under the Influence Of Alcohol.

The Kurunagala ASP has ordered the Warakapola OIC to undergo the Alcohol Test per a tip off received by him that the OIC has been reported to work yesterday(18) under the influence of Alcohol.

A Severe Shortage Of Around 30,000 Nurses Prevails In Government Hospitals

There's a severe shortage of around 30,000 Nurses in the Government Hospitals Island Wide at present  according to the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine.

Due to the Nurses Shortage some special units,wards,ICU'S and Theaters in Government Hospitals in urban and rural areas are functioning with difficulties it has been reported

The required number of Nurses estimated for Government Hospitals is around 65,000 and at present the Hospitals are having only around 35,000 Nurses the Ministry has said.Around 4500 new Nurses are passing out from Government Nurses Training Collages annually and that number is not sufficient to fill the Nurses Shortage Health Ministry has stressed.

According to the Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne steps have been taken to train more
 Graduate Nurses in view of overcoming the Nurses Shortage and in that aspect the Nurses Training College in Sri Jaywardenapura -Kotte is due to be converted into a Nursing Faculty.

Sri LankTan National Cricket Team Captain Angelo Mathews Has Given A Statement To Financial Crimes Investigations Division Over Match Fixing Allegations

Sri Lankan National Cricket Team Captain Angelo Mathews has arrived at Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division Office this morning with his lawyer to give a statement as a witness of the ongoing investigations on alleged Match Fixing allegations leveled against some officials and cricketers attach to Sri Lankan National Team.

The Financial Crimes Investigations Division is also due to take a statement from the Manager of Sri Lankan National Cricket Team Jerry Wourtez 

Sri Lanka Cricket has already suspended the services of Sri Lankan Fast Bowling Coach Anusha Samaranayake and Bowler Gayan Viswajith over the match fixing allegations.

Police Have Used Water Cannons To Disperse The Protest March Organized By Front line Socialist Party

The Police have used Water Cannons and dispersed the Protest March organized by Front line Socialist Party after it reached the Lotus Roundabout In Colombo this evening.

The Lotus Road was blocked for hours due to the protest march it has been reported.

This protest march was organized by   demanding the government   to provide Political Rights of  detained Front line Socialist Party Political Bureau Member Kumar Gunaratnam who is in remand due to violating visa procedure and to ensure the Democracy in the country according to the Front Line Socialist Party.
