Former Presidential Secretary And Chairman Of Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Have Been Granted Bail Over A Charge Against Them

The Colombo High Court has today(07) granted bail For former secretary to the former president Mahinda Rajapaksha , Lalith Weeratunge and former chairman of Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Anusha Palpita over a charge leveled against them.

The two of the  accused  have been charged for  illegally spending Rs.600 million belonged to Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Fund for purchasing White Cloths to distribute among Buddhist Devotees throughout the island during recently concluded presidential election.

Both Weeratunga and Palpita have pleaded not guilty on charge leveled against them.They were released on three personal bails of Rs.1 million each and cash bail of Rs.100,000 each.

Government Has Increased Customs Duties Of Imported Japanese Vehicles Through A Gazette Notification

The government has increased the Customs Duties of Japanese Motor Vehicles imported to Sri Lanka through the gazette notification 1933/16 pertaining to impose Customs Duties.

According to the increase Customs Duty on a imported Toyota Axio motor vehicle has been increased by Rs.1,365,000 and Toyota Aqua Vehicle has been increased by Rs.770,000.

Former UPFA MP Janaka Bandara Tennakoon Has Been Remanded Until 20th Of October

Former United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) MP Janaka Bandara Tennakoon who was arrested by Criminal Investigation Division(CID) yesterday(06) has been remanded until 20th of October by the  Colombo Fort Magistrate today(07). 

CID had arrested former UPFA MP Tennakoon over an assassination of an individual in 1999.Former MP was in Private Hospital at the time of his arrest and the Colombo Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya had visited him this morning and ordered authorities to remand him until 20th of October. 

Five Year Old Girl's Rape And Murder Case-DNA Samples Taken From Main Suspect "Kondaya" Does Not Match Samples Found From Girl's Body-CID

DNA samples taken from  main suspect of five year  old Seya Sadewmini's rape and murder case Dunesh Priyashantha allias "Kondaya"does not match the DNA Samples taken from deceased girl's body ,The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has today (07) informed the Minuwangoda Magistrate.

CID has submitted the DNA Test Report of  "Kondaya" received from Genetech Research Institute  to the Minuwangoda Magistrate Court this morning.

"Kondaya" was arrested by CID on 03rd of October as the main suspect of Seya Sadewmini's rape and murder case and the suspect too accepted he has done the crime.

Meanwhile Kondaya's elder brother Saman Jayalath who was arrested on last Saturday too has told CID he has done the crime and both suspects have been remanded until 19th of October by Minuwangoda Magistrate after considering the facts produced by CID.
