Kokmaduwa-Imaduwa Section Of Southern Expressway Has Opened Again

The kokmaduwa-imaduwa section of Southern Expressway which closed down twice since last night due to the bad weather has been opened for motorists from this evening again.

firstly the Kokamaduwa- Imaduwa section of Southern Expressway was closed down last night due to the bad weather prevailed at that time and  the risk of an earth slip near 114 kilo meter post of the expressway.Then again that section was opened for motorists since this morning and few hours later  the section was closed down.

However as the weather  improved the kokmaduwa -imaduwa section of Southern Expressway has been opened again this evening for motorists.


Kokmaduwa-Imaduwa Section Of Southern Expressway Has Been Closed Due To Bad Weather

 




The section between Kokmaduwa and Imaduwa near 114 kilo meter post of Southern Expressway has been closed this morning second time since yesterday (01) due to the risk of an earth slips according to Road Developemnt Authority(RDA).The section was closed last night also due to bad weather and it was reopned around 6.30 a.m this morning.

However due to the bad weather prevails in the Kokmaduwa-Imaduwa section of Southern Expressway has been again closed down this morning.

Earlier the Disaster Management Center has issued warning to motorists using Southern Expressway to be on alert as there's a risk of an earsthslip near 114 kilo meter post of the expressway.

Dengue Update-During First Nine Months Of This Year 20,457 Dengue Patients And 36 Dengue Deaths Have Been Reported-National Dengue Control Programme

During first nine months  (January to September) of this year 20,457 Dengue Patients and 36 Dengue Deaths have been reported from the Island according to the Director Of National  Dengue Control Campaign Dr.Hasitha Thissera.

Addressing a press briefing of Ministry Of Health held yesterday(01) at Government Information Department in Narahenpita(In Colombo District) Dr.Tissera has said  majority of the Dengue Patients  reported  this year up to now were from Colombo District with 6517 Patients.Out of the 36  dengue deaths reported this year 15 were reported from Colombo District Dr.Tisssera has stressed.

During the national mosquito control week which held last month around 567, 000 premises were inspected and 21.21% of these premises were identified as risky places which dengue mosquitoes can breed  and 2.87% were identified as dengue mosquito breeding places.

.During the forthcoming North Eastern Monsoon Rainy Season the spreading of Dengue may have increased in most parts of the country and people should be on alert on this situation the National Dengue Control Progtamme Director has further said.

US Sponsored Resolution On Sri Lanka Adapted In UN Human Rights Council Summit in Geneva

The US Sponsored Resolution on Sri Lanka-L29  ,entitled as   "Promoting Reconciliation,Accountability and Human Rights In Sri Lanka was adapted today(01) without a vote by consensus at the United Nations Human Rights Council Summit held in Geneva,Switzerland.

This Resolution was co sponsored by the Sri Lankan Government with 25 additional co sponsors including USA and UK .The resolution encourages the establishment of Sri Lankan Judicial Mechanism to investigate the allegations of violations,abuse of human rights  and violations of an International Humanitarian Law.

The proposed mechanism of US backed Resolution will include commonwealth and other foreign judges,authorized prosecutors, investigators and defense lawyers.
