Police Constables Have Arrested Innocent Girls Dressed Up In Western Cloths And Loitering In Public Places By Suspecting Them As Prostitutes"-SSP Ajith Rohana
"Sri Lankan Police Constables have sometimes arrested innocent girls who are dressed up in Western Cloths and loitering in Public Places by suspecting them as Prostitutes" the former Police Media Spokesman and Senior Superintendent Of Police Ajith Rohana has revealed today(30).
"Just because girls are loitering in public places by wearing western cloths and applied lipstick not mean they are subjected to be suspects as prostitutes "he said.
Addressing a Media Forum meeting"HIV/AIDS and Advocacy" held at the Auditorium Of Sri Lanka Family Planning Association in Colombo -07 today ,the former Police Media Spokesman has said the reason behind arresting innocent girls by suspecting them as prostitutes is none other than a lack of knowledge police officers are having regarding prostitutes.
"Sometimes Police have arrested persons who are carrying condoms with them . Condom is a medical device and one can't categorized a person carrying a condom as a prostitute .Condom is not a symbol to identify a prostitute as not only prostitutes but normal people too sometimes may have carry a condom with them "he has stressed.
