Prime Minster Ranil Wikramsinghe is due to leave Japan this weekend for an official visit.This tour is the second foreign tour of Prime Minister Wickramsinghas since he assumed his duties  as the  prime minister last month.

He has also toured India recently.

President Maithripala Sirisene is due to address the 70th Session of United Nations General Assembly currently underway in New York ,United States Of America tomorrow(30).

The Sri Lankan President has met several world leaders during last few days including US President Barrack Obama and held discussions on bi lateral issues.

Local Government Election To Be Held As Scheduled- Prime Minister Ranil wikramasinghe

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has said today(29) there's no need to postpone the forthcoming local government election which scheduled to be held in March next year.

"The Local Bodies now require members with fresh blood.Therefore the government has decided not to postpone the election " Prime Minister has stated while addressing an event held in Colombo today.

Colombo High Court Judge Sentenced To Death A Sri Lankan Couple For Possessing And Distributing Heroin

The Colombo High Court Judge Preethi Pathman Surasena has today(29) sentenced to death a Sri Lankan Couple who found guilty of possessing around 22 grammes of Heroin with them  and distributing Heroin.

The couple was arrested in Thalahena Area in Malabe(In Colombo District) on 2010 with around 22 grammes of Heroin in their possession.The case against the couple was filed by Attorney General.
