Director General Of Bribery Commission Has Been Summoned In Parliament

The Director General of the Bribery Commission Dilrukshi Wikramasinha has been summoned in Parliament as to  inquire why the commission have summoned   former President Mahinda Rajapakshe to  the bribery commission  according to the deputy speaker Chandima Weerakody.Speaker Chamal Rajapakshe has also due to make a special statement to the Parliament tomorrow(21) regarding this matter he has said.

The former President Rajapakshe has been informed to appear before the bribery commission on 24th of April regarding an allegation leveled against him over offering a bribe.His brother and the former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksha has been also informed to be appeared before the bribery commission on 23rd and 27th of April.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Granted Permission To Investigate Bank Accounts Of Former President's Chief Of Staff

The Colombo Chief Magistrate  has today(20) granted permission to the Criminals Investigations Department(CID) to investigate on  bank accounts belongs to the former President Mahinda Rajapakshe's Chief Of Staff Gamini Senerath and Nine Others as well as the accounts of four companies owned by them.

Fifty Five UPFA MP'S Handedover A Letter To The President Against Former President Summoning Before Bribery Commission

Fifty Five MP's attach  to the United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA)have signed a letter by protesting  the Bribery Commission's decision to summon former President Mahinda Rajapakshe over an allegation of offering a bribe was handedover to the President Maithripala Sirisena today(20) government sources said.

The Bribery Commission had yesterday (19) requested the former president Rajapakshe to appear before the commission on either 24th or 25th of April to record a statement over an allegation leveled against him at the commission for offering a bribe to the former Secretary General Of United National Party(UNP) Tissa Attanayake.

The UPFA MP's who were signed the protest letter have stated that the Bribery Commission has overstepped it's mandate by requesting the former president to appear before the commission.

Political Party Leaders Agreed To Conduct The Parliamentary Debate On 19th Amendment

All Political Party Leaders have today (19) agreed to conduct the Parliamentary Debate on  19th Amendment Draft Bill during  21st (Tuesday) and 22nd (Wednesday) of April.The sections of the 19th Amendment Draft Bill which have been approved by the Supreme Court will be discussed during this debate it has been reported.

A  meeting of all Political Party Leaders was held this evening under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinha.

Meanwhile the leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna has announced today that they will support the government to pass the 19th Amendment Draft Bill.

Former President Rajapakshe To Appear Before The Bribery Commission

The Commission To Investigate Allegations Of Bribery Or Corruption  has informed former President Mahinda Rajapakshe to appear before the commission to investigate on an allegation leveled  against him for offering a bribe.
