Nine Hundred Six Acres Of High Security Zone Lands In Jaffna Were Distributed Amongst Owners

The Authorities in Jaffna have  yesterday (11) distributed 906 Acres of Land in the Jaffna high security zones among st  the first owners  under the government's programme to distribute high security zone lands to there owners.These lands have been distributed to the owners after 27 years according to the government sources.

Yesterday alone lands situated in 9  Grama Niladari Divisions in Jaffna District were  distributed among st  first owners.Distributed lands were situated in Kankasanthurai South,Thelipplai,Northern Palai,Southern Palai,Kattuwan,Thenmailai,Waruthawillan,Palali South,Kopai and Walai Areas.

Distributing of High Security Zone Lands in Jaffna To the first owners is one of the election promises made by the present government during recently concluded Presidential Elections.

After Six Years Cost Of Living In The Country Has Come Down In March-Prime Minister

The Cost Of Living prevails  in the country has come down significantly during  last March and it  was the  lowest reported after 6 years according to the Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinha.Due to this situation People in the country will be able to celebrate this year's Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival which falls on 14th of April without any burden he has stressed.

During the last few years people in the country have been celebrated the new year with the help of  loans while rulers of the country had robbed  country's assets Prime Minister has further added.

More Then 10,000 Army Personal Left The Army During Last Nine Days

More than 10,000 Army Personal have been left   the Army legally up to now during the General Amnesty period declared by the Army.The amnesty period has started on 02nd of April and due to end on 16th of April.

This General Amnesty Period will continue  during the Sinhala/Tamil New Year Holidays as well the Army has announced.

Four Sri Lanka Freedom Party Parliamentarians Have Been Removed From The Party's Central Committee

Four Parliamentarians representing main opposition
Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) have been removed from the Party's Central Committee with immediate effect .The Parliamentariens namely Former Ministers Bandula Gunawardene ,T.B Ekanayake,S.M Chandresena and Salinda Disanayake have been informed through letters that they were removed from the central committee it has been reported.

The main reasons behind their removals  are   urging to make  former president Mahinda Rajapakshe as SLFP's Prime Ministerial Candidate for the future general election , their criticisms on 26 SLFP Parliamentarians who had accepted Ministerial Portfolios of the new government and their support to appoint MP Dinesh Gunewardene as the new opposition leader by replacing current opposition leader Nimal Siripala De Silva.

Parliamentary Group Of Sri Lanka Freedom Party To Make 20th Amendment Which Includes Electoral Reforms

The Parliament Group belong to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP)  which is a party attach to the main opposition United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) has now decided to make a 20th Amendment that  includes the new electoral reforms and presented to the Parliament instead of requesting government to add electoral reforms to the 19th Amendment which was already due to be presented to the Parliament on 20th of April.

The Parliamentary Group of SLFP which met yesterday had appointed a special committee headed by MP, Professor G.L Pieris  to examine the proposed 19th Amendment which was already approved by the Supreme Court .

MP's Anura Priyadarshana Yapa,S.B Disanayake ,Dilan Perera and Susil Premjayantha are the other members of this committee.The Committee is due to meet the MP' S of the governing United National Party before making the final draft of the 19th Amendment SLFP has said.Also the SLFP Parliamentary Group has decided to go for the general elections after passing of the 20th Amendment.
