South Korean PM Arrived Sri Lanka

The Prime Minister of Republic Of Korea Jung Hong Won arrived Sri Lanka this evening for a 3 day official state visit.this was the first time that a south Korean leader has arrived Sri Lanka after a lapse of 36 years since both countries established diplomatic relations in 1977.

South Korean prime minister is due to hold bi lateral talks with sri lankan president and scheduled to be attended  a meeting of local university students during his visit.

Fonterra Has Resumed It's Operations In Sri Lanka


The New Zealand Dairy Company Fonterra which shut down  their office and manufacturing Plant in Sri Lanka last friday due to security reasons has resumed their operations today(28) according to Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka Private Limited.

The enjoin order avoiding distribution ,selling and advertising of  all milk products belongs to  Fonterra issued by Gampaha District Court based on the contamination of DCD agro chemical in some of fonterra products too has lifted recently. however the injunction order issued by Court of Appeal by avoiding advertising fonterra milk powder products as 100% safe to consume  will be effective until 02nd of September.

 Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka Private Limited has said that they have shut down their office and manufacturing plant here due to safety concerns over  their 755 member staff and assets following  the political party led demonstrations held against the company.

Meanwhile foreign news reports quoted by  New Zealand Ministry Of Primary Industries has said today that   studies conducted in labs had shown that the whey protein concentrate which has said to be contaminated with Bacteria during it's  production at a Plant belongs to Fonterra is not the closteridum botulinum bacteria  causing the disease botulism but a bacteria called closteridum sporogenes which may be associated with food spoilage in elevate levels.

Two Varieties Of Injection Vials Contaminated With Glass Pieces And White Powder Found From Govt.Hospitals

Two varieties of injection vials contaminated with glass pieces and white powder have been found from Ratnapura General and Padukka District Hospitals recently claimed the president of Health Services Trade Union Alliance(HSTUA) Saman Ratnapriya.according to him the two injection vials "Aciclavoir Sodium" Injection  (250mg)prescribe for Chicken Pox and Encephalitis and Promethazine Hydrochloride (25 mg) (Phenogan) prescribe for vomiting and allergies  have been contaminated with few glass pieces and white powder respectively.

Both injection vials were imported from Indian Drug Companies and the injection vials belongs to  the batches  of  these contaminated injection vials are still use in government hospitals putting  patients lives in danger saman ratnapriya has said.if a contaminated injection vial is  found from a hospital the medical supplies division should have removed all the  stocks of vials belongs to the batch of contaminated injection vial until the inquiry has concluded on it ,but the health authorities have failed to follow this procedure he has stressed.

The president of HSTUA has urged Health Minister to punish the culprits who are  involved in importing these contaminated injection vials to Sri Lanka without limiting it to words.

The batch of injection vial "Aciclavior Sodium" which contaminated with pieces of glass have total of 36,000 injection vials and it worth Rs.3.13  million as one vial costs Rs.87  he said.

Protests Held Against UN Human Rights Commissioner Navi Pillay's Sri Lankan Visit

As United Nations Human Rights Commissioner Navi Pillay has arrived Sri Lanka for a seven day visit yesterday(25)a large number of supporters belongs to  "Ravana Balakaya" Organization were staged a protest campaign against her visit  in front of United Nations Office In Colombo today(26).the people who gathered in front of United Nations Office were shouted at United Nations Human Rights Commissioner to go home without interfering internal affairs in Sri Lanka.

During her visit here the  Human Rights Commissioner Pillay is due to hold talks with President Mahinda Rajapaksha,Defense Secretary Gotabahaya Rajapaksha and Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksha as well as due to visit war ravaged North and Eastern Provinces to view the situation there.she is also expected to meet several government and opposition party members as well as civil society groups and survivors of the conflict.navi pillay is the most senior UN Official to be visited  Sri Lanka since the end of three decade long civil war in North and East Areas in the year 2009.

Sick Note Campaign Of Perfusionists Stilled 20 Major Heart Surgeries In Government Hospiatals

Due to the two day sick note campaign launched by perfusionists attach to government hospitals around 20 major heart surgeries including Bypass  Surgeries performed in Colombo National,Karapitiya Teaching and Kandy General Hospitals  have been cancelled today according to hospital sources.only emergency heart surgeries have been performed in these hospitals today sources added.

Due to this situation thousands of heart patients awaiting in government hospital awaiting lists have  suffered immensely  and the lists have subjected to be  extended due to the cancellation of surgeries hospitals sources revealed.

Thirty Five Perfusionists attach to these government hospitals have launched a  two day sick note campaign this morning by demanding fair solutions for three of their service demands namely removing their salary anomaly,requesting a risk allowance and permanent extra services allowance for them.

If the demands of perfusionists have not meet during this trade union action perfusionists will not participating on call heart surgeries in near future the president of Government Perfusionsist Union Mrs.Kamani Gunarathne has said.the sick note campaign scheduled to  be continued tomorrow(27) as well.

Government Hospital Perfusionists To Launch Two Day Sick Note Campaign On This Monday And Tuesday

All Government Hospital Perfusionists who are operating heart lung machines during open heart surgeries are to launch a two day sick note campaign on this Monday(26) and Tuesday(27) by demanding solutions for three of their long standing service demands.according to government perfusionists union their personal attach to Colombo National Hospital,Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and Kandy General Hospital where heart surgeries  performing will launch this two day sick note campaign .


Due to this two day sick note campaign all open heart surgeries performed in those government hospitals will be stopped according to the perfusionist union.however the emergency heart surgeries will perform as usual union has said.

Government Hospital Perfusionists are going to  launch this trade union action by demanding removing of their salary anomalies,requesting a risk and extra services allowances for them .the perfusionists attached to Lady Ridgway Children's Hospital will not participate this trade union action due to humanitarian reasons government perfusionists have said.if their demands are not meet during  the strike perfusionists have decided to avoid of attending on call heart surgeries a spokesman of government perfusionists union has said.

Gampaha District Court Has Lifted Enjoin Order Against Fontera

The Gampaha District Court which has issued an enjoin order against fonterra brands sri lanka  private limited on last friday from banning advertising,distributing and selling of their milk powder products in the country has lifted the said court order this evening .

However  the district court has re issued notices for five of the fonterra sri lanka board of directors to be presented in Court on 25th of September on contempt of court charges.the court case on contempt of court charges against fonterra was filed by lawyers of  Government Nursing Officers Association which requested the enjoin order from  court last week.

The New Zealand based dairy company fonterra has earlier announced  today that they have suspended it's operations in Sri Lanka.
