"It is unfortunate that while rest of the world have adapted Sri Lankan made National Drug Policy and Sri Lankan Health Sector is still running without such a Policy "according to President of Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) Dr.Anurudda Padeniya .Addressing a press briefing held at GMOA Headquarters today (05) he stressed the need of implementing the much awaited National Drug Policy which has already drafted and approved by Cabinet some time back,By implementing the Drug Policy the health authorities will able to reduced the unnecessary spending towards importing drugs to the country as well as reduced the number of drugs imported here.
Due to the inappropriate way of distributing Drugs there is a severe shortage of most of the essential drugs at major hospitals Dr.Padeniya further added.
