The Government has decided to increase the percentage of Students taken to Universities from Science and Commerce Subject streems of Advanced Level Examination by year 2015 according to the Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena.
The Minister has informed Parliament today that under this programme students taken from Science streem will be increased to 45 percent and students from Commerce Stream will increase up to 30 percent.

Elections Secretariet Has Informed Government Institution Heads To Stop Recruitments,Promotions And Transfers To Govt.Service
The Election Secretariet has informed all Government Institution Heads through a circular to stop all recruitments,promotions and transfers to the Government Service till the end of Local Government Elections due to be conduct in 23rd of July this year.
"If an Institution violates the regualtions of above circular we are keen to take action against it " the Election Secretariet has said.

Colombo Public Health Dept.Ordered Every Employee Of The Hotels In Colombo To Get A Medical Certificatte By 30th Of June
The Colombo Public Health Department has ordered the owners of 500 Luxary,Semi Luxary and small Hotels and Restuarents to get a Full Medical Report of the employees who involved in preparing and serving food in these institutions by 30th of June or face legal action or cancelling of their license.
A Large Stock Of Out Dated Pethidine Injection Vials Stored In Medical Supplies Division Since Two Years
A stock of more then 100,000 Vials of Pain Killer Injection "Pethidine" which removed from Government Hospitals in 2009 after it got expired is still stored in Medical Supplies Division(MSD) Stores without destroying the stock according to the Health Sources.This Stock is worth around Rs.1 Million the sources added.
This stock of Pethidine Injection Vials was removed from Government Hospitals on February 2009 after it got expired on 31st of January 2009.After removal of the stock an official inquiry has been conducted along with a inquiry of Auditors General.The Auditors General has concluded his Inquiry in few months back according to the Medical Supplies Division Sources.
Joint Strike Action Of Doctors In Four Hospitals Has Suspended
The Joint Strike action launched by the Doctors of Four Government Hospitals suspended due to the the problem related to the strike has been resolved this morning according to the Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA).The Doctors attached to Polonnaruwa,Anuradhapura(North Central Province),Kurunagala(North Western Province) and Kandy(Central Province) launched a tiken strike this morning demanding to hand over Doctors Rest Room of Pollonnaruwa Hospital which was forcibly occupied by a Matron of the Hospital according to GMOA Secretary Dr.Bimantha Gunesekera.

President Mahinda Rajapaksha has today directed Chairman of Board Of Investment(BOI) to pay Rs.1 Million as Compansation to the family of Free Trade Zone Worker who was killed due to gun shot wound suffered during a protest held in Free Trade Zone in katunayake on Monday.

Cabinet Decided To Withdraw Controversial Pension Bill
The Cabinet has decided to withdraw the controversial Private Sector Pension Bill and due to re introducing it with amendments and suggestions of all stake holders the Cabinet Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has said during the Cabinet Briefing held today.
According to Minister Rambukwella the government will implement more people friendly Private Pension Bill and will do so in future after discussions.
One Free Trade Zone Worker was killed and dozens of Free Trade Zone Workers and Police Officers got injured due to the clash erupted in Katunayake Free Trade Zone on Monday when the workers protested over the Controversial Private Pension Bill.
