Joint Strike Action Of Doctors In Four Hospitals Has Suspended

The Joint Strike action launched by the Doctors of Four Government Hospitals suspended due to the the problem related to the strike has been resolved this morning according to the Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA).The Doctors attached to Polonnaruwa,Anuradhapura(North Central Province),Kurunagala(North Western Province) and Kandy(Central Province) launched a tiken strike this morning demanding to hand over Doctors Rest Room of Pollonnaruwa Hospital which was forcibly occupied by a Matron of the Hospital according to GMOA Secretary Dr.Bimantha Gunesekera.

This was the third time that Polonnaruwa Hospital Doctors launched a strike regarding the issue in last few weeks and after Ministry Of Health today has taken steps to handover the rest room to  Doctors officially GMOA has suspended the Strike  Dr.Gunesekera said.

President Rajapaksha Directed BOI Chairman To Pay Rs.1 Million To Deceased Free Trade Zone Worker

President Mahinda Rajapaksha has today directed  Chairman of Board Of Investment(BOI) to pay Rs.1 Million as Compansation to the family of  Free Trade Zone Worker who was killed due to gun shot wound suffered during a protest held in Free Trade Zone in katunayake on Monday.  

Twenty Two year old Roshen Chanaka was succumbed to his injuries on last wednesday at ICU of Ragama Teaching Hospital.

Cabinet Decided To Withdraw Controversial Pension Bill

The Cabinet has decided to withdraw the controversial Private Sector Pension Bill and due to re introducing it with amendments and suggestions of all stake holders the Cabinet Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has said during the Cabinet Briefing held today.

According to Minister Rambukwella the government will implement more people friendly Private Pension Bill and will do so in future after discussions.

One Free Trade Zone Worker was killed and dozens of Free Trade Zone Workers and Police Officers got injured due to the clash erupted in Katunayake Free Trade Zone on Monday when the workers protested over the Controversial Private Pension Bill.

Heavy Traffic Near Katunayake Air Port Junction Due To Protests

There is a heavy traffic near Katunayake Air Port Junction since this eve as groups protest against the death of Katunayake Free Trade Zone Worker Roshen Chanaka.

The deceased worker died yesterday while receiving treatment at Ragama Teaching Hospital.He was died due to the gun shot injuries received during the clash between Free Trade Zone Workers and the Police.

Two Police Officers Who Involved In Clash With Free Trade Zone Workers Got Arrested

The Criminal Investigations Department(CID) got arrested two Police Officers  in connection with the clash erupted between Katunayake Free Trade Zone Workers and Police on Monday where one boy was shot .The Clash was erupted when the Police  dispersed Free Trade Zone Workers who were engaged in protest campaign against government's proposed Private Pension Scheme by using tear gas.

A large number of Free Trade Zone Workers and Policemen got injured during the clash and were hospitalized.

Free Trade Zone Worker Who Was Shot During Monday's Clash With Police Died

Twenty One year old Katunayaka Free Trade Zone Worker  Roshen Chanaka who was seriously injured and hospitalized due to the  Clash erupted between free trade zone workers and Police on Monday has succumbed to his injuries this evening.He was admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital (In Western Province) last Monday after he was shot during the clash.

Doctors earlier said that his Kidneys too not functioning  well due to the gun shot injury he  had received and one of his  legs need to be removed.The deceased Boy was only joined the service in Free Trade Zone at Katunayake four months ago according to his parents.

 Around 55 injured Free Trade Zone Workers and Policemen were still received treatment in three Hospitals in Colombo and suburbs.

60 Drugs And Surgical Items Are Out Of Stock At MSD And Several Hospitals

There is a shortage of Around 60 Drugs and Surgical Items at the Medical Supplies Division(MSD) and several Government Hospitals these days according to the Health Sources.Amoxacyllin Capsules and Giving Tube Sets use for Saline Bottles and Gentomycine Injections are among the Drugs and Surgical Items which are having short supply at the moment the sources said.

The Medical Supplies Division are conducting Tender Boards for the shortage drugs these days the MSD sources added.
