British P.M Met Global Tamil Forum Delegates


British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has met delegates of the Global Tamil Forum according to the news sources.British Foreign Secretary David Miliband also addressed the gathering of the Forum held yesterday.

General Fonseka To Face New Charges


Retired General Sarath Fonseka who got arrested by the Military Police two weeks ago will face new charges under the Penal Code and Exchange Control Act within next two weeks Minister Professor G.L Pieris said today.According to the Minister General Fonseka will face charges in Civil Court.

General Fonseka who was the common presidential candidate of the opposition at the concluded presidential elections is due to face Court Martial Trial and according to the Government Sources the recording of the evidences on the charges leveled against him are almost on the finishing line.

General Fonseka Signed Nomination Papers For The Elections


Former Presidential Candidate Retired General Sarath Fonseka who is also the leader of the JVP Led National Democratic Alliance today signed his nomination Papers for the forthcoming General Elections while under detention.He is due to contest for the Colombo District under the Trophy Symbol of the Alliance.

The Ministry Of Health has Decided to set up an Emergency Information Hot Line Service within the Ministry premises during next week to collect Information on Drug Shortages occur In Government Hospitals the Acting Secretary of the Ministry Of Health Dr.Nihal Jayathilake said today.

Supreme Court Refused To Release General Fonseka


Sri Lankan Supreme Court today refused to issue an order to release Former Army Commander Retired General Sarath Fonseka after considering the Fundamental Rights violation case filed by his wife Mrs.Anoma Fonseka.

However the Court allowed access to His Wife,Immediate Family Members and lawyers to see him.

Government To Introduced Electoral Reforms After Regaining Power


The Ruling United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Spokesman Sri Lankan Transport Minister Dallas Alahapperuma said today that the Government will introduced an Electoral Reforms with a New Constitution within Six Months after coming to Power from the forthcoming General Elections scheduled to be held in next April.

Addressing a Media Briefing Minister Alahapperuma said the aim of introducing these Electoral Reforms is to reduced the Political and Electoral problems emerged at present.

Tamil Journalist Tissanayagam Was Released On Bail


Tamil Journalist J S Tissanayagam who was imprisoned over allegation on collecting money and supporting for the LTTE Activities was granted Bail by the Appeals Court and due to get freed tomorrow.He was freed on Personal Bail according to Judicial Sources.

He was sentenced to 20years of vigorous Imprisonment under the Terrorism Prevention Act.
