Sri Lankan Government Lifted The Travel Restrictions On Visiting A-9 Road


Sri Lankan Government has decided to allow Normal Citizens to travel through A-9 Road to Jafna without getting permission from the Defense Ministry.Since the Sri Lankan Military had defeated the LTTE Rebels on last May Normal Citizens are not allow to use A-9 Road for travel purposes without getting permission from the Defense Authorities.

Meanwhile the Special Adviser to the President Mahinda Rajapaksha MP Basil Rajapaksha today announced that the Restrictions imposed on the Up Country Tamils when traveling to Down South will be lifted with the effect from tomorrow.Earlier Up Country Tamils need to get a Police Clarence when visiting Down South due to Security Concerns.

Popular Sri Lankan Surgeon Dr.Anthonis Passed Away


Veteran and Popular Surgeon Dr.P,R Anthonis who is known as One of the Greatest Surgeons produced by Sri Lanka was Passed away today at a Private Hospital in Colombo.He was 98 years old at the time of his death.The popular Surgeon became famous when he performed a marathon Six Hour Surgery to the Former Sri Lankan Prime Minister S.W.R.D Bandaranayake when he was shot by an unidentified gunman in 195o's.

Former Cricketer Turned Minister Arjuna Joined With Common Candidate


Former Sri Lankan Cricket Captain and the Minister of the Present Government Arjuna Ranathunge today extended his support for the Common Presidential Candidate Retired General Sarath Fonseka in the forthcoming Presidential Elections.Addressing a packed Press Briefing at the Political Office of General Fonseka situated in Colombo MP Ranathunge said while staying at the Governing Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) he will support the General to win the Presidential Elections and to eradicate the Corruption.

He stressed that he took the decision to support General thinking of the Country and will strength the General's Campaign for a Difference.

Election Commissioner Accepted 22 Out Of 23 Presidential Nominations


Sri Lankan Election Comissioner Dayananda Dishanayaka today accepted the Nomination Applications of 22 Presidential Candidates and rejected the Application of One Candidate Election Commissioner's Office announced today.The Nomination of leader of the Sri Lanka Progressive Front Nelson Perera was rejected by the Election Commissioner as there are deficiencies in his papers.

President Mahinda Rajapaksha and his Main Rival and the Common Presidential Candidate of the Joint Opposition Retired General Sarath Fonseka were among the Candidates who handover their Applications this morning for the forthcoming Presidential Elections sheduled to be held in 26th of January 2010.

Thirteen Candidates Were Pay Deposits For The Presidential Elections


Thirteen Candidates including of the two Main Candidates for the forthcoming Presidential Elections President Mahinda Rajapaksha and the Common Candidate of the Opposition General Sarath Fonseka were handover Deposits for the Election up to to day.

The Presidential Elections which a largest number of Candidates were contested is the Presidential Election in 2005 where Fourteen Candidates were contested.The Nominations for the forthcoming Presidential Elections is accepting on 17th of December 2009.

Common Presidential Candidate General Fonseka Is In War With State Media


Sri Lanka's Common Presidential Candidate Retired General Sarath Fonseka today filed Three Fundamental Right Cases against the Three Major State Media Organizations on allegedly misusing of the State Media for political gains.

On these Fundamental Applications General Fonseka challenged the State Owned National Rupavahini Corporation,The Independent Television Network(ITN),and the News Papers published by the State owned Associated News Company Ltd for partially supporting the President Mahinda Rajapaksha on the forthcoming Presidential Election while try to defame the Opposition.General Fonseka recently requested the Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dishanayaka to appoint an Authorized Officer to control State Media in the view of the forthcoming elections.

Sri Lanka Denied The Military Plane Arrested Was Heading To Sri Lanka


Sri Lanka's Government Information Department quoting the Government said today that the Russian Built Military Plane with War Weaponry got arrested yesterday was not heading towards Sri Lanka.Thai Media reports that the Plane with 5 member Crew including 1 Belarus National and 4 Kazakastani Nationals was en route to Sri Lanka as it stopped in Thai Air Port for refilling Fuel.

The Plane which carrying 35 tonnes of War Weaponry including Rocket Launchers was flying from North Korea.

All the Crew were detained by the Thai Security Personal and the War Weapons on board at the Plane were searched by the Security it has been reported. As Sri Lanka denied that the Plane was heading towards Colombo some officials said that the Crew may have told that they were heading to Sri Lanka in order to conceal their actual destination.
