Colombo Court Ordered To Block 12 Phonography Web Sites

Colombo Magistrate Court yesterday ordered the Sri Lanka Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission(TRC) to blocked 12 Web Sites containing Photography Material involved in local Women and Children.RedTube.Com is among the sites ordered to be Blocked.

Announcing the Blockage Colombo Chief Magistrate Nishantha Hapuarchchi said the Web Site owners have 14 days to respond on this Blockage and if they failed to do so the TRC will asked to keep on blocking the above sites.

Sri Lanka already imposed an unofficial ban on Phonography Web Sites.However even the local Internet Service Providers are blocked the access to these sites some still able to access int these by using Foriegn based Proxy Servers.

Supreme Court Ordered To Stop Transfering 53 Nurses Of The Cancer Hospital

The Supreme Court yesterday issued an Interim Order to the Ministry of Health preventing the Transferring of 53 Nurses attached to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital after considering a Petition jointly filed by three Nursing Unions against the Ministry decision.

This Interim Order valid till the next hearing of the petition scheduled to be held in 30th of July.However Maharagama Cancer Hospital Authorities refused to act according to the Court order and trying to implement the Ministry's decision Nurses Unions charged.Health Ministry last weak decided to transfer 53 Nurses who are serving at the Hospital more than four years and stop giving the Chemo Therapy Treatment to the Cancer Patients citing Safety reasons.

Meanwhile Nurses of the Cancer Hospital staged a Picket Campaign in front of the Hospital this noon to urge Hospital Authorities to Implement the Court Decision.

Swedish Government To Closed Down It's Embassy In Colombo

Swedish Government decided to closed down their Embassy in Colombo by 30th of March 2010.Swedish Government Officially announced this yesterday.

Earlier reports quoting Swedish Government Sources says the reason behind this move is none other than the present Global Economic Crisis.However reliable sources predicted that the denying of Issuing Visa to the Swedish Foreign Minister by Sri Lankan Authorities on last April was behind this decision.

IMF Exco Approves 2.6 Billion US Dollar Loan For Sri Lanka

International Monetary Fund(IMF) Executive Board yesterday approved the much debated 2.6 Billion US Dollars Standby Agreement for Sri Lanka.The Board also decided to release 322.2 Million US Dollars Immediately according to the Sri Lankan Ministry Of Finance.

IMF delayed approving this Loan since early part of this इयर due to the Pressure of some Western Powers who urged to consider Sri Lanka's Human Rights record during the War against LTTE when granting the Loan.

Sri Lanka not Importing Killer Paracetamol From Bangladesh

The Brand of Paracetamol which lead to the Deaths of 24 Children in Bangladesh is not imported to Sri Lanka according to the Director of the National Drug Authority Dr.Hemantha Beneragama."We are not importing any kind of Drugs from Bangladesh and therefor there's no need to affraid of he stressed.

Bangladeshi Health Authorities sealed the Pharmaceutical Company which distribute the Paracetamol Product soon after the deaths were reported.

Former LTTE Loyals Remanded

Former LTTE Media Spokesman Daya Master and Translator George Master who were surrendered to Sri Lankan Forces on last April were remanded today after producing them to the courts.Investigationes on these two are continueing according to the CID.
