Supreme Court Grants Permission To Day to Proceed with Petition Filed by MP and Former Cricket Interim Committee Chairman Arjuna Ranathunga Against his Removal from the Post.He Filed This Petition Against the Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge by Stating That his Fundemental Rights Are Violated Due to His Removal which was Illegal.

Susanthika To Retire From Athletics


Sri Lankan Ace Sprinter And Olympic Bronze Medelist Susanthika Jayasinha Informed the President Mahinda Rajapaksha To Day That She is Retiring from Athletics.Susanthika won the Bronze Medel for the 200 Meters Known as Her Pet Event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and became the Second Sri Lankan to Win a Medal at a Olympics Since 1948.
Hailing from a Remote Village of "Athnawala" in the Hill Country Susanthika Won the Silver Medal at the International Athlatic Federation's World Athlatic Meat At Athens in Greece on 1992.Also She Got Many International And Local Medals and Awards To Her Credit.

US Secretary Of State And UK Foriegn Secretary Requests SL Govt.And LTTE A No Fire Period


United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom David Miliband to day Call on the Sri lankan Government and LTTE to Agree on a Temporary No Fire Period.They Made this Request in a View of Evacuating the Trapped Civilians In the Battle Zone.

Co-Chairs Urged LTTE To Lay Down Arms And Discuss With The Government


The Tokyo Co-Chairs of the Sri Lankan Peace Process Norway,Japan,United States and the European Union To Day Calls on LTTE To lay down Arms and Enter Discussions with the Government and to Accept Government Offer of Amnesty.They Also Asked the LTTE to Participate as a Political Party and Try to achieve a Just and Long Lasting Political Solution to The Conflict.Also Co-Chairs Appealed From Both the Government and the LTTE to Respect International Humanitarian Law.
Regarding the Civilians Trapped in the North Due to the On going Battle Co Chairs Express their Concern on them and Asked Both the Government and the LTTE to Declare a No Fire Period to helping the Evacuation of Sick and Wounded Civilians from the Battle Zone.

Government Nursing Officers Association Said that A Nurse Attached to the Udayakattur Temporary Hospital in the Mulativu District was Killed To Day Due to the Artillery Fire.Twenty Four Year Old Thawarasa Kavidgadani Who Joined the Nursing Service Five And Half Months Ago Killed on an Artillary Attack hit On the Hospital the President of the Nursing Officers Association Mr.Saman Rathnapriya Says.He already Requested the Health Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage To Take Measures to Transfer the Body of the Deceased Nurse to Vavuniya Hospital.
