Nursing Staff Of The Maharagama Cancer Hospital Stopped Chemo Therapy Treatment-Large Number Of Cancer Patients Are In Danger
The Nursing Staff Of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital the only State Owned Cancer Hospital in Sri Lanka Stopped performing Chemo Therapy Treatment for the Cancer Patients Since Yesterday and the lives of 400 to 500 Cancer Patients Receiving this Treatment are in Danger Due to this Hospital Sources said.Nursing Staff Stopped Performing Chemo Therapy Treatment Demanding giving them a Proper Training on this Treatment and Introduce a Special Security System on this Therapy A Senior Nursing Officer said."We are Demanding these From the Health Ministry within the last twelve years but Ministry Authorities Continuously Failed to Meet our Demands.So we have no other option then Going for this Action" He further Added.
Due to The Nursing Officers Trade Union Action Large Number of Outdoor and Indoor Patients are Suffering Hospital Authorities said.Meanwhile Some Trade Unions said the Nursing Staff who are in the Trade Union Action Demands Rs 10,000 Risk Allowance which they Did not mention openly.However Ministry Of Health Today Said that the Rs 500 Risk Allowance Paid to the Some of the Nursing Staff of the Cancer Hospital is Increased to Rs.3000 and all the Health Staff Involve in this Trearment WILL receive this.But the Nursing Officers of The Cancer Hospital said that the Ministry Officials Promised this Increased Allowance Three Months ago But the Authorities Still failed to Issue a Circular Regarding this Increased Allowance Up to Date.

In a New Tender Freud Case reported from The Ministry Of Health A Senior Official of the Ministry is trying to Award the Tender for Cleaning Services of the State owned Hospitals Next year to the Company Presented Highest Bid Instead there are Companies Presented Lower Bids for the Service.According to the Ministry Sources Above Official who is also the the Chairman of the Technical Evaluation Committee of the Tender is Continually Influencing the other Three Health Ministry Officials who are members of the Committee to Sign the Docuements to Handover the Tender to the Highest Bid.But Despite His Influence the Remaining Three Members of the Evaluation Committee Are on the View that this Move is Unjustified when there are lowest bids for the offer.These Members Complained On this to the Health Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage and to the President to Take Necessary Action Taken to Avoid of Awarding the Tender to the Highest Bid.This Tender is Worth Rs.240 Million and Seven Local Cleaning Companies Presented their Bids for the Tender.

Cancer will Replaced Heart Diseases as the World's Number One Killer by the year 2010 According to the Latest Report Issued By the World Health Organization(WHO) on Tuesday.The Rising of the Tobacco Use in the Developing Countries is the main Reason Behind this Situation where around 40 percent of Tobacco Users are live in China and India.If the Cancers are not diagnosed Earlier 27 Million Cancer Patients and 17 Million Cancer Deaths will be Reported Annually by the year 2030.International Health Experts said that there will be 1 Percent Annual Rise of the Global Cancer Patients and the Deaths by then .WHO Report also stated that the number of Global Cancer Patients at the end of this year will be 12 Million and there will be 7 Million Cancer Deaths.There is a steady Growth on Cancers in Countries like Russia,China And India the Report Stressed.

Colombo Urban Council Filed Court Cases Against Four Persons and Companies who Pasted Posters on the Walls of Public Places And Houses within the Colombo City Limits Chief Medical Officer Of The Colombo Urban Council Dr.Pradeep Kariyawasam Said Today(09).A Tution Master and a Telecommunication Company are among those Accused he stressed.Under the Section of Preventing Harassment OF THE 81st Interim Resolution of the 8th Section in the Urban Council Act, Pasting Posters and Announcements Within the Walls of Public Places and Houses Are Illegal but the Law is not Imposed against this So far He said.In Future No Person will allowed to Paste Posters and Announcements within the Colombo City Limits and Legal Action will taken Against those who are doing so He further Added.

Two Essential Drugs Prescribed For Breast Cancer Patients are Out Of Stock at the Sri Lanka's Only State Run Cancer Hospital The Maharagama Cancer Hospital and Due to this Around Two Thousand Breast Cancer Patients Getting Treatment From the Hospital have to Purchase these Expensive Drugs from the Private Sector Oncologists said Today(08)."Anasterazole" and"Leterazole" the Medicinal Pills Prescribed for Breast Cancer need to take Daily by the patients up to one Month are out of stock these days According to the Oncologists.One Pill from these will cost More than 400 Rupees and Most of the Patients are not able to Afford it Due to the Higher Prices they said. If these Patients are not taken medicine properly there is a Risk of increasing their Cancer they stressed.
Meanwhile Instead of Supplying these Out Of Stock Drugs the Authorities Supplied another Cancer Drug called "Examethazine"to Replace them which is normally not Prescribed for the Breast Cancer Hospital Sources said.But Due to the Strong Side Effects of this Drug Doctors avoid Prescribing of it to the Patients sources further Added.

United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) Today(05) Launched A Five Point Agenda on Reducing the Inequality and Distributing the Benefits of the Economic Development among
the People and All Classes in a Country and between the Countries in Asian Region. Experts who prepared this Agenda warned that there should be a Social Strife if not Reducing the Inequality of the Societies in Asia.The Facts in this Agenda are Based on the Findings of Research and Policy Dialoges Carried out by the UNDP And foreign Experts Professor Frances Stuart Of the Oxford University and Sir Richard Jolly in the Countries of Sri Lanka,Nepal,India,Indonesia and Timor-Laste.Speeking at this Occasion held in Hotel Taj Samudra,Colombo The Head Of the UNDP Asia And Pacific Regional Office IN Colombo Mr.Omar Norman says the Recent Mumbai Attacks Shown that Terrorism Is a Threat to the Human Development and their is a Direct Relationship between the Inequality and Conflict.As Inequality In the Society Increases the Poverty in The Urban Areas are in Rise.He also Stressed That Now The People Living with Extreme Poverty in the Asia Pacific Region is Exceeding than the People in the Sub Saharan African Countries.There are Around 900 Million People In Asia and Pacific Region Living with Extreme Poverty Mr.Norman Added.
