Sri Lanka To Release 104 Detained Indian Fishermen Tomorrow(16) To Mark Thaipongal Hindu Festival

Sri Lankan Government has today(15) decided to release 104 Indian Fishermen arrested by the Navy while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan Waters as a goodwill gesture to mark Hindu Festival Thaipongal .

These fishermen are due to be released by tomorrow(16) according to the Ministry Of Fisheries And Aquatic Resources.The letter of recommendation regarding the release of these Indian Fishermen has been sent to  President Maithripala Sirisene by the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs ,the Fisheries Ministry has stated.

Police Have Arrested Two Suspects Over Sexually Molesting A Foreign Female At Thalalla Beach

The Police have arrested two suspects on suspicion over sexually molesting a German Female at Thalalla(In Southern Province) Beach last evening.Police have also arrested a Buddhist Monk regarding the incident as he was found as recording the incident by using his Mobile Phone.

According to the Gandara (In Southern Province)Police Two German Females have visited the thalallla beach last evening and one of  them had faced sexual molestation in the hands of suspects aged 30 and and 64 years .A 17 year old Buddhist Monk has been recorded the incident from his mobile police have said.

Police have arrested the suspects after the 54 year old victim has lodged a complaint with Gandara Police.

Gandara Police are conducting further investigation on the incident.


The Increased Prices Of Bread And Other Bakery Products To Be Reduced With Effect From Midnight Tonight

The Price of  a 450 Gramme Loaf Of Bread which was increased by Rs.1 with effect from last Tuesday(12) will be reduced from the same amount(Rs.1) with effect from midnight tonight according to the Bakery Owners Association .

The prices of  other Bakery Products which increased following the tax increase implemented with effect from 01st of January too will be decreased the Association has said.

Bakery Owners have decided to reduce the increased prices of Bread and other Bakery Products following the government's decision to halt the amendments proposed to Nation Building Tax(NBT) and Value Added Tax(VAT) through the 2016-Annual Budget until the legislative enactments relevent to them are passed in the Parliament.

Removing Of The Stock Of Paddy Stored At Mattala International Air Port Has Begun

The removing process of  the Stock of Paddy stored at Mattala(In Southern Province) International Air Port has began yesterday(14) according to Ministry Of Social Services, Welfare and Livestock Development.

Initially around 595,000  Kilo Grammes  out of 4064 Metric Tonnes Of Paddy stored at Mattala Air Port  have been removed the Ministry has said.

An interim report regarding the controversial death of a young man who died after falling  from an Up stair of a Festival House in Embilipitiya (In Sabaragamuwa Province)last week , has been submitted to the Police Commission it has been reported.

The Interim Committee Report contains the findings of Police Investigations .A Copy of the Report has been submitted to Inspector General Of Police as well the Police have said.

The death of the young man has led a protests and harthals in Embilipitiya Town during last week.

Around 19 Students Attached To A School At Baduaraliya Have Been Hospitalized Due To A Sudden Illness

The Students who are attached to Grade Five Class have been admitted to the Hospital after developing symptoms like Vomiting and Fatigue .

The cause for the student's illness has not yet been  identified and the Public Health Inspector and Medical Officer Of Health in the area are conducting a special investigation to identify the cause it has been reported.

Cabinet Has Approved A Proposal To Relocate Manning Market From Colombo Fort To Paliyagoda

The Cabinet has yesterday(13) approved a proposal to relocate the Manning Market From Colombo Fort to Paliyagoda (In Western Province).Accordingly the Old Saint John Fish Market and Vegetable and Fruit Trade Center at Manning Market will be relocated  at a 25 Acre Land belongs to Urban Development Authority.

After relocating the Fish ,Vegetable and Fruit Markets the Manning Market Premises at Colombo Fort will be utilized for Public Transport Facilities the Government has said.

The estimated cost for the relocating process of Manning Market is Rs.4 billion.
