Sri Lankan Coastal Line Trains From Colombo Fort Railway Station Have Been Terminated Due To A Derailment

Sri Lankan Coastal Line Trains from Colombo Fort Railway Station have been terminated at the Kalutara (In Western Province) Railway Station since this evening due to a derailment occurred between Payagala and Beruwala Railway Stations according to Sri Lanka Railways.

Due to the situation all four night mail trains scheduled to commence from Fort Railway Station have been limited to Kalutara Railway Station and the authorities have reimbursed  the ticket money  of  passengers.

Heavy Traffic In Colombo Roads Due To A Protest March Conducted By Intellectuals And Artists

Heavy Traffic has been reported from Technical Collage Junction to Colombo Fort Railway Station this afternoon due to the protest march launched by a group of     Intellectuals and Artists by demanding the government to speed up investigations regarding the complaints received by Bribery Commission on fraud and corruption of previous regime.

Due to the Traffic Public have faced severe difficulties and the Police Officers have advised motorists to use alternative roots it has been reported.

The protesters have conducted a protest campaign in front of the  Fort Railway Station after reaching the Railway Station.

Increased Annual Vehicle Emission Charge Will Not Be Charged From Three Whe alers And Motor Bicycles-Minister Of Finance

Ihe increased Annual Vehicle Emission Charge of Rs.5000 will not be charged from Three Whealers and Motor Bicycles according to Minister Of Finance Ravi Karunanayake.Accordingly Three Whealers and Motor Bicycles will only need to pay the previous emission charge

However the increased Annual Vehicle Emission Charge will be charged from all other vehicles as predicted in 2016-Annual Budget Proposals presented to the Parliament on last Friday(20) the Minister has said.

The Ministry has taken this decision as the increased emission charge of Rs.5000 proved to be a  heavy burden to Three Whealer and Motor Bicycle users.

Government is expecting to earn around Rs.18 billion income annually through Annual Vehicle Emission charges,

Government Has Reduced Special Commodity Levy Imposed On Imported Potatoes And Big Anions

The Government has reduced the Special Commodity Levy imposed on Imported Potatoes and Big Anions by Rs.25 per Kilo Gramme according to the Ministry Of Finance.

This reduction has been done per the provision made in 2016 Budget Proposals the Ministry has said.

Accordingly the market prices of Imported Potatoes and Big Anions will be reduced Ministry has further added.

The Prices Of Gas Reduced From Today(23)

The Ministry Of Finance has  announced  the Prices of 12.5 KG, 5KG and 2.5 KG Gas Cylinders have been reduced with effect from today(23) .

Accordingly the new price of  12.5 KG will be Rs.1346, 5KG Gas Cylinder -Rs.572 and 2.5 KG Gas Cylinder- Rs.273.These reductions have been made per the provision of 2016 annual budget the Ministry has said.

Telephone Charges Are Likely To Be Increased From 0st Of January

Telephone Charges may be increased with effect from  01st of January next year(2016) due to the Duty Revision suggested through the 2016 Annual Budget Proposals presented to  Parliament on last Friday(20)according to Ministry Of Finance.

Through the Budget Proposals it has been suggested to increase the 11% current VAT(Value Added Tax) charge which added to Telephone Bills to 12.5% the Ministry has said.

Indian Coast Guard Has Sent Back 34 detained Sri Lankan Fishermen To Sri Lanka

The Eastern Region Indian Coast Guard has sent back 34 Sri Lankan fishermen who were in Indian Custody for violating International Boundry Line by fishing in Indian Waters to Sri Lanka according to reports.

As a part of Repatriation Process between Sri Lanka and India regarding the fishermen issue Indian Coast Guard Ship Rajkamal has brought the 34 Sri Lankan Fishermen to Karaikal Port today and handed over to them to Sri Lankan Authorities.

Meanwhile according to repatriation process Sri Lankan Authorities have today (22)sent back  Two Indian Fishermen who were arrested while fishing in Sri Lankan Waters at Bay Of Bengal to India.The two fishermen along with their boat due to arrive Karaikal Port later tonight.

Sri Lanka Customs Officers Have Arrested A Sri Lankan Male At The Air Port With Over Rs.10.1 Million Worth Foreign Currency

Sri Lanka Customs Officers have this morning arrested a Sri Lankan Male at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port who tried to leave the country with Foreign Currency worth over  Rs.10.1 million in his possession.

Customs Officers have found 28,500 Euros. 11,000 Australian Dollars ,15,000 Swiss Francs and 1500 US Dollars in possession of the 58 year old suspect.
