Police Have Arrested A Thai Woman Staying In Sri Lanka By Violating Immigration Emmigration Laws

Police have arrested a Thai Woman at Colpetty(In Colombo City) Bus Stand who is staying in the country by violating immigration and emigration laws.

Constitutional Council Has Forwarded A List Of Nominated Members To Four Commissions For The Approval Of President

Image result for constitutional council sri lankaThe Constitutional Council has forwarded A list of nominated members to four independent commissions for the approval of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Accordingly  list of members for Police,Bribery ,Human Rights and Public Service Commissions has been forwarded to President.

Ten members of the Constitutional Council have met at Parliamentary Complex Premises yesterday(09) and reached a final decision regarding the new members of Bribery Commission ,Human Rights Commission ,Public Service Commission and National Police Commission.

The Constitutional Council Members are due to meet on 04th of November to take a final decision on members of the remaining Independent Commissions.

IGP Ilangakoon Has Left For China Along With Five Other Officers For An Official Visit

Inspector General Of Police(IGP) N.K Ilangakoon along with five other High Rank Police Officers have yesterday (08) left for China for a seven day official tour.They are due to stay in China until 15th of this month.

Meanwhile Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police S.M Wikramasinghe Has been appointed as acting IGP.

Sri Lanka Motor Vehicle Importers Association Made A Proposal To The Government To Reduce Customs Levy On Vans

The Sri Lanka Motor Vehicle Importers Association has made a proposal to the government to reduce customs levy imposed on Vans through the 2016 Annual Budget .

According to the Association the prices of Vans and Lorries are very high and as these vehilces contribute greatly towards the development of the country including the tourism sector and  cargo transport the custom levy imposed on them should be reduced.

Besides the proposal to reduce customs levey on Vans the Sri Lanka Motor Vehicle Importers Association has made some other proposals as well to the Ministry Of Finance in view of helping the preparations of 2016 Annual Budget Proposals.

Heart Patients Due To Undergo Heart Operations Including Bypass And Tests At Kandy Hospital Are In Battle Of Life And Death Due To The Closure Of Cardio Thoracic Unit

All  Heart Surgeries including Bypass  and tests that identify the heart diseases performing at Cardio thoracic Unit of  Kandy Teaching Hospital have been stopped since 02nd of September According to All Ceylon Nurses Union.

Due to this situation the Patients who are in Waiting Lists of the hospital for Heart Surgeries and Tests are facing a battle of  life and death the Union has said.

The closure of Cardio Thoracic Unit for repair work including tiling  the floors of Theaters and Wards is the main cause for this situation.

Around 1200 Heart Patients registered for Heart Surgeries including Bypass at the hospital and 1500 patients registered for Tests including "Angiogramme Test" are in difficult situation due to this according to the president of All Ceylon Nurses Union A.Gamini Kumarasinha.

The Nurses Union has yesterday (08) requested the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala to intervene this situation and open the Cardio Thoracic Unit of Kandy Teaching Hospital with immediate effect.

Seventeen Year Old School Boy And Another Suspect Arrested Over five year Old Seya Sadewmini's Murder Have Filed A Petition At Human Rights Commission

The 17 year old school boy and other suspect who were arrested by Police over the rape and murder case of five year old Seya Sadewmini of kotadeniyawa area have filed a complaint at Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka today(08) by alleging they were assaulted by police officers of Kotadeniyawa Police while in custody.

The Human Rights Commission has questioned the two complainants  as well as accused police officers of kotadeniyawa police regarding the allegation.The said suspects were later released after their DNA Tests did not matched the DNA Samples taken  from girl's body.

Due to a tense situation occurred at Parliament this evening the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has adjourned the house for ten minutes .

A tense situation has occurred after Speaker has dismissed a request made to him by a group of Opposition MP's to table a letter submitted to the house by former minister dinesh gunawardena regarding transfers of several senior officers attached to the Central Bank.

The tense situation arisen when speaker has told the house he will table the said letter tomorrow instead of today.

Supreme Court Has Dismissed The Petition Filed By Communist Party General Secretary Against Nominating Defeated Candidates As National List MP's

The Supreme Court has today(08) dismissed the petition filed by general secretary of Sri Lanka's  Communist Party D.E.W Gunasekera against nominating defeated candidates as United Peoples Freedom Alliance's (UPFA) national list MP'S.

By giving the verdict the three judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice K.Sripavan has informed the petitioner that there's no legality to hear the petition as the Speaker of the Parliament has given his approval for the UPFA's  National List MP's.

UPFA headed by President Maithripala Sirisena had nominated several defeated party candidates of the recently concluded Parliamentary Election as National List MP'S of the party.

Seya Sadewmini's Murder Case-Minuwangoda Magistrate Has Granted Permission To CID To Carryout A DNA Test Of Seya SadewminI's Father

The Minuwangoda Magistrate has today(07) granted permission to Criminal Investigation Department(CID) to carryout a DNA Test of  five year  old Seya Sadewmini's (Who was sexually molested and murdered last month) father as the DNA Tests carried out on four  suspects were not matched with DNA Samples found from Seya's Body.

The DNA Samples taken from  two main suspects arrested regarding the rape and murder of Seya namely Dunesh Priyashantha alias "Kondaya" and his elder brother Saman Jayalath had found did not match the DNA Samples found from girl's body.

Five Year old Seya Sadwmini of Kotadeniyawa Area was sexually molested and murdered on 13th of September and her body was found an area near her house.

Former Presidential Secretary And Chairman Of Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Have Been Granted Bail Over A Charge Against Them

The Colombo High Court has today(07) granted bail For former secretary to the former president Mahinda Rajapaksha , Lalith Weeratunge and former chairman of Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Anusha Palpita over a charge leveled against them.

The two of the  accused  have been charged for  illegally spending Rs.600 million belonged to Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Fund for purchasing White Cloths to distribute among Buddhist Devotees throughout the island during recently concluded presidential election.

Both Weeratunga and Palpita have pleaded not guilty on charge leveled against them.They were released on three personal bails of Rs.1 million each and cash bail of Rs.100,000 each.

Government Has Increased Customs Duties Of Imported Japanese Vehicles Through A Gazette Notification

The government has increased the Customs Duties of Japanese Motor Vehicles imported to Sri Lanka through the gazette notification 1933/16 pertaining to impose Customs Duties.

According to the increase Customs Duty on a imported Toyota Axio motor vehicle has been increased by Rs.1,365,000 and Toyota Aqua Vehicle has been increased by Rs.770,000.
