Power And Energy Minister To Expose The Names Of Culprits Who Have Stolen Billions Of Public Money And Assets

The Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranwake has pledged that he will publish a blacklist exposing all the VIP's including ministers of the previous regime who have stolen billions of rupees and public assets .

The Minister has stated that he is having all the details of the bank accounts belongs to those who stolen public money and assets and their sources."I expect to expose all of them with their names shortly" he has stressed.As having hard evidence against these persons it is not difficult to take legal action against them Minister Champika has further said.

Sri Lankan National Was Arrested At The Katunayake Air Port For Carrying Over Rs.7 Million Worth Currency Notes

A Sri Lankan National has been arrested at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Air Port early this morning while attempting to leave the country with over Rs.7 million worth currency notes wrapped in a carbon paper and concealed in his luggage.

The man who is a resident in Kandy was arrested at the departure lounge of the Air Port with 10 bundles of currency notes in his luggage  including Euros,Yens and Sterling Ponds according to the Customs Officers.The suspect was prepared to board a Singapore Bound Flight UL306 at 1.10 a.m early this morning,

Heavy Showers To Fall In Western ,North Western And Sabaragamuwa Provinces

Heavy Showers exceeding 100 mili meters are likely to fall at some places in the Western,North Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and Galle and Matara Districts in coming days during afternoons and evenings  according to the Meteorology Department.Showers are to be occurred in the Central,North Central and Northern Provinces and in Hambanthota District the department has said.

Special Presidential Commission To Be Appointed To Probe On Large Scale Fraud And Corruption

President Maithrpala Sirisena has decided to appoint a Special Presidential Commission to probe on Large Scale Fraud and Corruption occurred during the previous regime.The Special Commission is due to be appointed during next week.

The Commission will be given the power to investigate on Corruption and Fraud deals and to recommend punishments for those who are responsible for such acts President Sirisena has said.

The new government has already appointed a Anti Corruption Front to collect information and complaints on large scale financial malpractices.The said front has given power to audit all government institutions as well.

Nelum Pokuna Mawatha(Road) To Be Re Named As Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha From Next Week

The "Nelum Pokuna Mawatha"( Road )which runs from Horton Roundabout to Public Library Roundabout in Colombo-07 is to be re named from it's previous name Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha from next week according to the Colombo Municipal Council.

The Road was re named as Nelum Pokuna Mawatha(Road) in 2011 following the opening of Nelum Pokuna Performing Arts Stadium.The naming of the road as Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha is to be done during a ceremony scheduled to be held next week with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena,

Interim Budget Was Passed In Parliament

The Interim Budget of the present government has passed this evening with a majority of 163 votes,In the vote 163 votes casts in favor and one MP,Ajith Kumara of DNA has voted against it.

Opposition MP'S Thissa Vitharana,DEW Gunasekera ,Dinesh Gunawardene,Wimal Weerawansha,Vasudeva Nanayakkare,Y.G Pathmasiri,Chandrasiri Gajadeere,,S Wijewikrame and Geethanjana Gunawardena were abstained from voting.

The interim budget proposals -2015,with several concessions to the public was presented to the Parliament on 29th of January by the Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.

Military Presence In The North Will Not Be Reduced-State Minister Of Defense

The state minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardene has said that the Military Presence in the Northern Province will not be reduced and the prevailing number of Military Bases in the province will be functioned without dismantling .State Minister has made these remarks during his first official visit to Jaffna yesterday(06) after assumed his duties in his ministerial post.

The National Security of the Country will further strengthening and it's not allowed to be disregarded at any cost he has stressed.

Nurses Union To Complain On Corrupt Deals Occurred In The Health Sector

President of the Public Services Nurses Union(PSNU) Venerable Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero has said that the Union will complain on the corrupt officers attach to the Health Sector and their corrupt activities to the Bribery Commission in near future."We have detailed documents on the corrupt deals of these corrupt health officers and there's a great need arise to clean the health administration in the country" Muruththettuwe Thero has stressed.

Even some higher officers attach to the Health Institutions who were found guilty by the Public Services Commission for fraudulent activities were appointed as directors of some health institutes he has revealed.

President should try to remove bureaucracy in the Health Ministry in view of finding effective solutions for trade union demands Muruththettuwe Thero has  said.

A 30 Hour Water Cut To Be Imposed In Colombo Tomorrow(07)

The National Water Supplies And Drainage Board has announced a 30 hour long water cut to be imposed in 11 divisions of Colombo from 9 a.m tomorrow(07) to 3 p.m on Sunday(08) while low pressure water supply to three other divisions in the city during that period due to an urgent repair to the main pipe line in Maligakande..

According to the Board 30 hour water cut will be imposed in Colombo 1,2,3 and 7 to 14 while low pressure water supply will be imposed in Colombo 04,05 and 06.Public reside in those areas are advised to collect sufficient amount of water for their daily needs before the water cut.

Cabinet Approved The National Medicinal Drug Policy Draft Bill

The Cabinet has yesterday(04) approved the Draft Bill of the National Medicinal Drug Policy.The approved Medicinal Drug Policy is the second Drug Policy Draft Bill approved by the Cabinet since 2005.

The earlier Draft Bill was misplaced at the Legal Draftsman Office and a new draft bill of the Drug Policy was prepared after that incident.The new draft bill approved by the Cabinet will present to the Parliament shortly Cabinet Spokesman Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has said.

Cabinet Has Decided To Proceed With Colombo Port City Project

The Cabinet has decided to go ahead with the China Funded Colombo Port City  Project inaugurated by the previous government Cabinet Spokesman Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has said today(05).During the Presidential Elections Campaign,Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinha has said that they will stop the Colombo Port City Project due to the environmental threats and some corrupt deals occurred under the project.

President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to be discuss on the several questionable matters related to the project when he visits China on March Dr.Senaratne has stressed.

Four Were Killed And Another Two Critically Injured Due To A Cab-Train Collision

Four members of a same family were killed and another two persons got critically injured when the Cab they were traveled in collided with a train traveling from Colombo to Vvuniya at Batuwatta Main Railway Crossing today(04).

According to the Police the Father ,Two Sons and a Daughter of the same family have died from the accident while the mother and another daughter got injured and now receiving treatment at the Ragama Teaching Hospital.

Due to this accident Sri Lanka Railways have decided to halt train services in the Main Railway Line temporarily.

Express Highway Bus Fares Reduced

In view of the recent fuel price reduction the Bus Fares on the Southern and Colombo-Katunayake Express Highways have been reduced the National Transport Commission has announced.According to the price reduction the bus fare of the Kaduwela to Matara will be Rs.460 and Maharagama to Matara will be Rs.445.

The bus fare for Maharagama to Galle will be Rs.375 and Colombo to Katunayake Rs.110.

Former General Secretary Of United National Party Tissa Attanayake Had Arrested And Remanded

Former General Secretary of the United National Party(UNP) and Health Minister MP Tissa Attanayake had been  arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division this morning in Colombo for creating a fraud document with fake signatures of Current President Maithripala Siirsena and Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinha during the election campaign of the Presidential Elections.

 After produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate MP Attanayake was ordered to be remanded till 11th of February per the request made by Colombo Crimes Division Officers.

Parliament To Meet Tomorrow (02) For A Special Debate On Chief Justice Issue

The Speaker Chamal Rajapaksha has announced that the Parliament will meet at 2 P.M tomorrow(02) on a request made by the Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinha to conduct a special debate on the appointment and removal of the former Chief Justice Mohan Pieris.

A heated debate on the removal of Mohan Pieris from the Chief Justice Post took place in Parliament on Last Friday following the special statement made by the Prime Minister Wikaramasinha over the removal of Pieris.This lead the Opposition to make a special request for a debate on chief justice issue.

Government has already appointed the most senior judge in the Supreme Court K.Sripavan as the 44th Chief Justice following the retirement of 43rd Chief Justice Dr.Mrs.Shiranai Bandaranaike who was retired one day after reinstated in
the post. .
