A Fire Broke Out In A Motor Car
A Motor Car was caught fire in front of the Prime Minister's office at Flower road in Colombo -7 this evening (31) according to Police ,
Colombo Fire Brigade arrived at the scene and doused the fire before it spreads further .No one was injured due to the incident and the cause of the fire had not yet been revealed ,

A 51 Year Old Male Had Shot Dead In Kotahena
A 51 year old male was shot dead by two unidentified individuals at Vivekenanada Road in Kotahena (Colombo )last night (30) according to the Police .

Postal Department To Increase Air Mail Fare

Fuel Will Be Issued Only For Those Registered With QR System From Tomorrow(01)
Government has decided to issue fuel for vehicles under the new QR code System known as National Fuel Pass system introduced for vehicles with effect from tomorrow (01) Island wide according to the Ministry of Power and Energy .
Accordingly only those vehicles registered under QR Code system can get fuel from all oil refilling stations in the island from tomorrow .Three wheelers will get fuel from a separate Oil refilling station it has been announced .
Due to the QR code system issuance of fuel for tokens and based on the final digit of the number plates will be cancelled and priority will be given for the Oil refilling stations which are adapting the QR Code system when issuing the fuel .

Police Arrested 13 Persons Over Planning To Migrate Australia I legally
Police in Point Of Pedro have arrested 13 persons who were planning to migrate Australia in a Boat illegally at a house in Manalakadu at Point Pedro ,Jaffna this morning (30)..
The Police had arrested 08 males ,03 females and a child whilst staying at the house .The males and females arrested by Police are of the ages 21-38 and 08 males were remanded until 08th of August after been produced before the Pint Of Pedro Magistrate Court .
The 03 females and the child had been released on bail .
Another 83 Corona Positives And 03 Corona Deaths Reported
Another 83 Corona Positives and 03 Corona deaths had been reported in the country yesterday (29) according to Epidemiology Unit .
Accordingly the total number of Corona Positives reported in the country so far had been increased to 665,626 and the total number of Corona deaths had been increased to 16,556 the Unit has stated .
At the moment 922 Corona Positives are being treated at Hospitals and under home care it has been revealed .

Another 143 new Corona positives had been identified in the country yesterday (28) ,Increasing the total number of Corona positives identified so far since the beginning of the pandemic to 665,543 according to the Epidemiology Unit .
Five more Corona deaths had been reported in the country yesterday ,Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 16,553 the Unit has stated .At the moment 845 Corona Positives are being treated at hospitals and at home it has been revealed .
Epidemiologists had requested the general public to wear a mask and adapt the Anti Corona health guidelines strictly these days when going to a public place to avoid contacting the disease .

Colombo Fort Magistrate Ordered Police To Produce A Report On The Money Found From President's House
Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage had today (28) ordered the Colombo Fort Police OIC Sagara Liyanage to produce the sum of Money Rs.17 .8 million found at the President 's house by Galle Face protesters and handed over to the Police on 09th of July .
After the large crowd including the Galle face protesters had stormed in to the President's house on 09th of July during the public uprising ,Protesters had found the amount money left at the house and they have handed over the money to the Colombo Fort Police it has been revealed ,Although Colombo Fort Police had informed this incident to the Colombo Fort Magistrate three weeks back ,The police has failed to produce a report regarding the amount of money handed over by the protesters Colombo fort magistrate had stated .,
Meanwhile Colombo Fort Magistrate had released four persons arrested by the Colombo Fort police and produced before the court on the charges of illegally entering the President's house on 09th of July and presence when a group of protesters counting the sum of money recovered from the President's house .
Social Media Activist Pathum Kerner Arrested Over Protesting In Front Of The Parliament
Social Media Activist and one of the founders of the Galle Face Protest Pathum Kerner had been arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) yesterday (28) in connection with the unruly incidents occurred at the entry road to the Parliament near Polduwa Junction in Colombo on 13th of July during a protest campaign held there .
He was arrested after his arrival to the CCD to give a statement regarding the incidents occurred during the protest at Polduwa Junction it has been reported .According to the Colombo Crimes Division Kerner was responsible for assembling people near the Parliament on 13th of July and attempting to break the barricades setup to protect the Parliament .
Kerner was summoned by the CCD on 18th of July regarding the incident ,However he had informed the CCD through his lawyer that he was unable to appear before the CCD citing ill health .
President Prorogued The Parliament
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has prorogued parliament till August 3, 2022, a gazette notification stated.
Parliament had been prorogued from midnight today (28), until 10.30 am on August 3, the notice said.
The prorogation automatically dissolves parliamentary committees including the Committee on Public Enterprises.

The fundamental rights petition files against two Rajapakshe brothers had been taken into consideration before the bench of five Supreme court judges headed by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya today .This petition was filed in the Supreme court requesting to issue an order to the government to launch an investigation on those who are responsible for current economic crisis in Sri Lanka..

The lawyers appeared at the Supreme Court behalf of the President Ranil Wikramasinghe had made a request today (26)from the seven bench Judge panel of the Supreme Court that the Fundamental rights petition filed by many factions cannot be carried forward the President Wikramasinghe's name as a respondent because he was elected as the President .
Attorney at law Suren Fernando who appeared for President Wikramasinghe has raised an objection before the court today and said that as his client was elected as the executive president a case cannot be conducted against him as per the article 35 of the Sri Lanka's constitution .
However many factions had opposed this remark and the lawyers representing the former President Maithripala Sirisena who is also named as a respondent of the fundamental rights petitions filed on Easter Sunday attacks had raised objections before the seven member judge panel .
Amidst objections, the Supreme court requested the lawyers representing behalf of the former President Maithripala Sirisena to make their submissions today .Several factions including the Sri Lanka Bar association had filed 12 fundamental rights petitions on Easter Sunday attacks at the Supreme Court .

Another Ship Carrying 3750 Metric Tons Of Gas Has Arrived
Another ship carrying 3750 Metric tons of Gas had arrived at Colombo harbor this evening (24) according to Litro Gas Company .
Yesterday (23) another ship carrying 3740 Metric tons of Gas had arrived at harbor and unloading of Gas from that ship is currently underway the Company has stated .The unloaded stocks of Gas will be distributed from tomorrow (25) island wide prioritizing the Colombo district it has been announced.
Work From Home Facility For State Employees Extended For Another Month
Government has extended the work from home concept introduced to Government employees since 28th of June for another month period due to the current fuel crisis .Accordingly only a limited number of employees should be called to work and other should work from home the Ministry of Public Administration had announced through a circular issued today (24).

President Instructed Officials To Issue Fuel To School Buses And Vans
President Ranil Wikramsinghe had today (23) instructed the relevant authorities to issue fuel to Vans and Buses transporting School Children from this evening through the Ceylon Transport Board (CTB) Depots.
As Schools are scheduled to be re opened from Monday (25 ) President directed officials to expedite the issuance of fuel for School vans/Buses and Public transport system .
All government and private schools which had been closed down on last week of June as a result of the paralyzing of the Public transport system are scheduled to be re opened this Monday and from next week School children are being asked to come to school only three days per week until further notice due to the current fuel crisis.
