A Peradeniya University Undergraduate Had Been Killed Due To An Accident Occurred In Kandy-Galaha Road

An  Undergraduate of University Of Peradeniya has been killed early this morning as the Motor Bicycle driven by him had collided with a Lorry at Kandy-Galaha Road it has been reported.

The critically injured Undergraduate had succumbed to his injuries on admission to Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.

The Police have arrested the Lorry Driver over the incident and he is due to be produced before Kandy Magistrate Court.

Colombo High Court Issued A Notice To Former General Secretary Of UNP To Appear Before Court On 19th Of October

Image result for tissa attanayakeThe Colombo High Court has today(26) issued a notice to former General Secretary of the United National Party(UNP) Thissa Attanayke to appear before the Court on 19th of October over a case filed against him on preparing fraudulent documents.

The Attorney General had indicted the former UNP General Secretary  on 09th of September over using fraudulent signatures of Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena in a letter prepared during the Presidential Campaign.

Body Of The Assasinated Former Editor Lasantha Wikramathunge To Be Exhumed Tomorrow(27)

Image result for lasantha wickrematungeThe body of the assasinated former Editor of the "Sunday Leader" Newspaper Lasantha Wikramathunge who was killed in 2009 is due to be exhumed from his burial site at Borella Cemetery tomorrow(27) as per a Court Order.

As court ordered a new autopsy on the assasinated Former Editor's death, his burial site is under police protection since early September it has ben reported.

An Army Intelligence Officer had been arrested and remanded over the murder of Late Lasantha Wikramathunge.

Two Teenagers Of The Same Family Were Killed As The Motor Bicycle They Were In Collided With A Lorry

Two teenage children of the same family were killed as the Motor Bicycle they were travelling in collided with a Lorry at selvanagar area in Serunuwara today(25).

The deceased were identified as a 15 and 16 year old teenagers in the same family residing in Selvanagar area.Three children were on the Motor Bicycle at the time  of the accident and the third one had been suvived it has been reported.

Serunuwara Police are conducting an investigations on the accident.

A 14 Year Old Boy Was Arrested For Killing His Friend At Welipanna

Police have today (25)arrested a 14 year old boy for killing his 15 year old friend by hitting him with a club this evening at Welipanna(Western Povince) area in Kalutara District.

The suspected boy had hit his friend to death over a dispute occurred during the cricket match they have played this evening the Welipanna Police have stated.

The remains of the deceased boy who is a resident in utugama at welipanna area had been sent to Kalutara Hospital.

The suspect teenager is due to be produced

An Unexploded Bomb Has Been Recovered From Kilinochchi

An unexploded fighter jet  bomb weighing around 300 Kilo Grammes and 6 feet long which believed to be fired during the war between Sri Lankan Armed Forces and LTTE Rebels had been recovered yesterday (24) inside a forest reserve in Chundikulam ,Dharmapuram area  at Kilinochchi(Northern Province).

The Bomb is believed to be fired from a kafir fighter jet during the war period according to Dharmapuram Police.

The Police Officers along with the personal attached to Special Task Force's bomb disposal squad had defused the bomb it has been reported.

Police Arrested A person Who Sold Drugs To School Children In Kandy

The central anti corruption unit attached to Katugasthota Police have today (25)arrested a person charged over for selling narcotic drugs to school children in Kandy  with 190 mili grammes of Heroin in his possession .

The 43 year old suspect is a resident in Colombo and distributing drugs  to  Akurana,Katugasthota and Kandy areas according to the Police.

He is due to be produced before the Kandy Magistrate Court tomorrow (25).

Colpetty Police Had Recovered A Body Inside A Hotel In Colpetty

Colpetty (Colombo) Police had recovered a body of a young Naval Rating inside a Hotel in Sirikatha Road at Colpetty who had
committed suicide.

The Rating who is a resident in Nugegoda Area believed to be hanged himself inside  the Hotel Police have stated.

Colpetty Police are conducting an investigations on the incident.

Around 18 Passengers Were Injured And Hospitalized As The Bus They Were In Veered Off The Road At Nikawewa

Around 18 passengers were injured 07 of them crutically as the Private Bus they were travelling in veered off the road and turned turtle at Nikawewa Area  on Horowpathana-Kabithigollawa main road (North Central Province)this morning.

All 18 passengers injured had been admitted to the Horowpathana Hospital and 07 crically injured persons  were later transferred to Anuradhapura General Hospital for further treatment it has been reported.

The Private Bus travelling from Trincomalee(In Eastern Province) to Point of Pedro (In Northern Privince) was veered off the road as the bus driver was unable to control it according to the Police.

Horowpathana Police are conducting an investigations on the accident.

The Son Of The Imprisoned Joint Opposition MP Had Been Arrested Over Driving Under Liquor Influence

Kanishka Aluthgamage the son of the imprisoned Joint Opposition MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage had been arrested by the Kirulapona(Colombo) Police last night over driving a vehicle under the influence of Liquor.


However he was  released on Police Bail today (25) it has been reported.

The suspect has been informed to be appear before the Hulftsdorf Magistrate Court tomorrow (26) the Police have stated.

Nine Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Van- Van Collission At Badulla

Nine persons including six females  were injured and hospitalized today(24) following the van they were travelling in had collided with another van near the Badulla Police station on Badulla-Bandarawela main road .

The injured were admitted to the Badulla Hospital and their condition is reported as stable.

The accident hss occurred as a result of the driver of a van arrived in  from Hambanthota has falling a sleep it has been reported.

A Navy Sailor Attached To The Trincomalee Navy Camp Had Committed Suicide

A 36 year old  Navy Sailor had committed suicide by shot himself from a fire arm inside the Sri Lanka Navy Camp in Trincomalee it has been reported today (24).

The Navy Sailor who is a resident in kandy had shot himself from his official fire arm according to the sources.The cause behind the suicide not yet been revealed.

The Trincomalee Harbour Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Navy Have Taken Into Custody 77.5 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis At Pudukurippu Area

Sri Lanka Navy Personal have taken into custody 77.5 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis while transporting them  in a Three Wheeler at Ambalampokkane in Pudukurippu area (Northern Province) it has been reported.

The suspects who were transported the haul of Cannabis had fled away by leaving the stock when Navy Personal approached it .

The haul of Cannabis taken into custody by the Navy had been handed over to the Mulathivu Police for future course of action.

Two Foreign Nationals Were Injured And Hospitalized Due To An Accident On Southern Expressway

Two foreign nationals had been injured and hospitalized today (24) following the van they were travelling in had collided with the security fence at 96th mile post on Southern Expressway.

The two foreign nationals were admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching  Hospital for treatment according to the Pinnaduwa Police.

The two injured were on their way to Tangalle from Katunayake when the accident occurred due to the driver falling a sleep the Police have stated.

Pinnaduwa Police are conducting an investigations on the accident.

A Group Of Residents In Gonapinuwala Had Launched A Protest Campaign Demanding The Arrest Of A Driver

A  group of residents in Gonapinuwala (Southern Province)  has launched a protest campaign today (23) by demanding the arrest of a motor car driver who caused the death of two youths .

Police have arrested the suspected driver over a road accident which killed a youth on the spot at Gonapinuwala area and another who died today in hospital, but later released the driver on bail it has been reported.

The angry residents had launched the protest campaign demanding the  arrest of the suspect by blocking  entry point to Southern Expressway from Baddegama Area reports have stated.

New Condom Policy Has Been Implemented In Sri Lanka To Combat Against HIV/AIDS

A new condom policy has been implemented by the National Sexually Transmitted Diseases/AIDS Campaign to effectively promote condoms among the risk groups who are vulnarable of getting HIV/AIDS according to the Director of the AIDS Campaign  Campaign Dr.Sisira Liyanage.

Addressing a Media Seminar held this morning at Health Education Bureau on "Combat HIV Through Safety-Current Evidence On Dual Protection" Dr.Liyanage has stated that the National Condom Policy has been prepared and implemented as condoms are identified as the only effective  method which can prevent spreading of HIV/AIDS among risk groups who are engaging in an unprotected sex Dr.Litanage has stated.

Besides the implementation of the condom policy National STD/AIDS Campaign has launched an awareness  programme and conducting blood tests on HIV/AIDS among the identified risk groups who are  prone to HIV/AIDS located  in all tourist zones in the country including Beach Boys,Tourist Guides,Hotel Workers including Room Boys and Three Wheeler Drivers who are  transporting Tourists he has stressed.

Recently Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has informed the Parliament that around 20 local persons in Tourist Zones are identified as HIV Positives.
