A 78 Fold Increase Of Cancer Patients In Sri Lanka By The Year 2030 -Minister Of Health
Due to the high number of risk factors related to Cancers prevails in the society it is estimated a 78 fold increase of Cancer Patients in Sri Lanka by the year 2030 according to Minister Of Health ,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.
The risk factors related to Cancers like consumption of high calorie unhealthy diet,lack of physical activity ,overweight,increasing number of adult population,high rates of consuming alcohol and cigarettes, the people suffering from various forms of Cancers in Sri Lanka is on the increase the Minister has said.
Megapolis Development Plan Which Covers The Entire Island To Be Implemented From January 2016
The Megalopolis Development Plan prepared for the Megalopolis Development in an entire island with aim of transfer informal urban development into formal urban development had presented to the President Maithripala Sirisene yesterday(30) at Presidential Secretariat.
Under the Megapolis Development Plan which is due to be implemented at the beginning of 2016,Beautification of the Towns,Improving the living standards of the people and developed the happiness of the people have been aimed to achieve.
The Megapolis Development Plan will be given priority to development of towns and will also paying attention on providing Housing Facilities to the slum dwellers, improving drinking water and sanitary facilities ,traffic congestion and garbage disposal .
According to the Minister Of Megapolis And Western Development Champika Ranawake the Megalopolis Development Plan will be carriedout in three phases and it scheduled to be completed in 2030.Through the development plan Sri Lanka will be received USD 30 billion worth investments within next 10 year period the minister has said.
Kolonnawa Urban Council Chairman Has Been Arrested And Remanded Over Attacking A Group Of Protesters In Meethotamulla Area
The Chairman Of Kolonnawa(In Colombo) Urban Council Ravindra Udayashantha has been arrested and remanded until 04th of January over allegedly attacking a group of residents in Meethotamulla Area who have protested against the Garbage Disposal Site in Meethotamulla.
The Urban Council Chairman has been remanded after he was produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate yesterday(30).
Due to the attack on the Protest conducted by a group of residents in Meethotamulla last Sunday ,several protesters have been injured and admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.The residents lives near the Garbage Disposal Site have complained the mountainous garbage site threatened their health.

Eight Local Fishermen Have Been Arrested Along With Their Equipment Over Involved In Illegal Fishing In Northern Seas
Sri Lankan Navy have yesterday(30) arrested eight local Fishermen while involved in illegal fishing in the seas between Point Of Kudiramalai and Pukkulam and in Paramunai.The Navy have also arrested the Fiberglass Boat , Purse Seine Nets ,eight oxygen bottles and two diving masks used for illegal fishing by arrested fishermen.
Out of these arrested fishermen five fishermen along with their boat and equipment have been handed over to the Assistant Director Of Fisheries in Mannar(In Northern Province) and three have been handed over to the Assistant Director Of Fisheries in Puttalam along with their equipment for an action according to Navy.

A Temporary Ban On Photographing "Sigiriya "Frescoes
The Central Cultural Fund has imposed a temporary Ban on Photographing Historical Frescoes of World Heritage Site " Sigiriya" with effect from yesterday (30).
The Cultural Fund has taken this decision to temporarily ban the photographing of Sigiriya Frescoes after special discussion held with the heads of Archaeology Department on last Tuesday(29).
The studies carried out recently have proved when photographing, the flash light emitted damage the 1600 years old Sigiriya Frescoes of Beautiful Women,
It has been reported around 50,000 visitors have visited Sigiriya this month alone.
Colombo Municipal Council Has Decided To Blacklist The Organizing Company Of Enrique's Show In Colombo
The Colombo Municipal Council has today(30) made a decision to blacklist the Company "Live Events" which organized the Live Musical Show of Latin American Pop Star Enrique Iglesias' at CRand FC Grounds on 20th of December over it's failure to pay Rs.29 Million Tax to the Municipal Council.
The Colombo Mayor A.J.M Muzammil has today said the Municipal Council has blacklisted the "Live Events' Company owned by two Former Sri Lankan Cricketers Kumar Sangakkare and Mahela Jayawardene which organized the controversial musical show of Enrique in Colombo in view of making the company ineligible to organize such events in future.
Addressing a press briefing held in Colombo today, The Colombo Mayor Muzammil has revealed the Colombo Municipal Council has approved 7000 Tickets for the Enrique's Show,However the organizers sold around 3000 unapproved tickets as well for the show.
"If the Company "Live Events" not taking any action to pay unpaid tax to the Colombo Municipal Council within two weeks time .Municipal Council will take a legal action against it " Colombo Mayor has stressed.

Around 65% of The Hospital Deaths In Sri Lanka Occurred Due To The Non Communicable Diseases-Health Minister
Around 65% of the Hospital Deaths in Sri Lanka are being occurred due to the non communicable diseases according to Minister Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.
Cancer has been identified as the second main cause for these hospital deaths the Minister has said.
He has revealed these facts during a ceremony held yesterday(30) at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo to launch Sri Lanka's first ever National Policy on Prevention and Control Of Cancers.
