State Minister Of Finance Requested A Report On Flour /Sugar Price Increase

 The State Minister Of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya had ordered the Department of Trade and Investment policies to submit a report on increasing the prices of Wheat Flour and Sugar in the local Market.

The Essentials Importers Association had earlier stated the wholesale prices of  a kilo gramme of Wheat flour and Sugar had been increased by Rs.10 and Rs.25 .

However State Minister of Finance had stated that there cant be a price increase of Wheat Flour and Sugar at a time Sri lankan rupee is depreciating against the US Dollar.The prices of Wheat flour too dropped in the world market he had stressed .

Five Office Trains In All Lines Cancelled Due To The Station Masters Strike

 Due to the ongoing one day Island wide  token strike of the Railway Station Masters five office trains scheduled to commence in all lines this morning (10) had been cancelled Sri Lanka Railways Department has announced.

Railway Station Masters Had launched an Island wide token strike from midnight last night (09) until midnight today (10) over appointing an official accused of corruption as the Deputy General Manager ( Commercial ) in Sri Lanka Railways Department 

The executive committee of the which met yesterday (09)had unanimously decided to launch the strike to urge the authorities to reverse tbe decision taken to appoint the accused official.

Police Arrested 14 Persons Over Assaulting To Death A Youth In Dehiwala

 Police had arrested 14 persons over assaulting to death a 27 year old youth and critically injuring another at an Air condition repairing center at Dehiwala area (Colomno District).

A Group.of persons had assaulted and killed the youth who was a resident of Bdowita area in Mount Lavinia last night and police had also taken into custody the van ,Car and the Three wheeler used by the  suspects

SJB Suspended The Party Membership Of MP Fowzie

 The Working Committee of the Samagi Janabalawegaya (SJB) Party had decided to suspend the party membership of MP A.H.M Fowzie over disciplinary reasons .

The party membership.of MP Fowzie had 

been suapended due to several reasons including voting in favour of the IMF Loan facility in Parliament at a time the Party  had refrained from voting .

The working committee had given powers to the Disciplinary committee to take further action in this regard .

Prices Of Wheat Flour And Sugar Increased

The wholesale prices of Wheat Flour and Sugar had been increased again with immediatte effect according to the Essentials Importers Association.

Accordingly  the Price of a Kilo gramme of Wheat Flour imported from India had been increased by Rs.10 and the Price of a kilo gramme of Sugar had been increased by Rs.25.The new wholesale 

The Price of imported wheat flour has been increased as the Government had withdrawn the Rs.3 tax concession provided for wheat flour the Association had stated.
