Five Persons Injured Due To A Soil Mound Collapse

 Five persons had been injured and hospitalized  after the houses  they were in at kabaragala area in liyangahawela ,Bandarawela    completely destroyed due to a,soil mound collapsed over them.Altogether 10 houses had been destroyed due to the soil mound it has been reported.


The injured were hospitalized and the condition of four out of the five persons that had been  hospitalized is critical it has been reported.

The soil mound was collapsed over houses due to a rough water wave it has been reported.

Eighteen Hairpin Bends Section Had Been Closed Down

 The 18 hair pin bends section(Dahaate wanguwa) of the Kandy -Mahiyanganaya main road had closed down from 8 pm tonight (20) until 5 a.m tomorrow(21) morning due to a risk of falling sand mounds to the road according to the Road Development Authority.


The 18 hairpin bends section was closed down last evening due to the risk of falling sand mounds and the section was re- opened for traffic this morning.

NBRO Issued Landslide Warnings To Three Districts

 National Building Research Organization (NBRO) had issued landslide warnings to three districts in the island today (20) due to the adverse weather condition prevailing in the island at present .Landslide warnings issued on several districts | ONLANKA News - Sri Lanka

Accordingly NBRO had issued landslide warnings to Badulla ,Matale and  Galle districts due to the adverse weather condition  prevailing in ,People living in Mountainous and slope areas in those districts should be vigilant over the symptoms of landslides according to the NBRO officials .

Two Minor Tremors Were Reported In The Country

 Two minor tremors had been reported from  Kirinda (Southern Province)and Gomarankadawala (Eastern Province)areas since last evening (18) according to Geologocal Surveys and Mines Bureau .


Accordingly the first minor tremor was reported with a magnatude of 2.6 in richter scale from Kirinda,area last evening and the second tremor with a  magnatude of 3 in Richter scale was reported from Gomarankadawala area in early hours of this morning.


A Tea Factory Had Been Destroyed Due To A Fire

 The Escadale Private Tea factory at Park Estate in Kandapola,Nuwara Eliya district had been completely destroyed due to a sudden fire occurred in the factory in wee hours of last morning (18) according to the reports.


The fire trucks belong to Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council and police officers attached to Kandapola Police had jointly doused the fire before it speead further.

No casualties has been reported due to the incident and the cost of thd damage occurred due to the fire has  not yet been estimated according to the authorities .Kandapola Police are investigating to find out the cause behind the fire .
