Former President Gotabhya Rajapakshe Returned To Sri Lanka

The  Former Sri Lankan President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe who had fled away from the country as a result of the popular  public uprising on  09th of July Had returned to the country last night (02) according to the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport authorities .

Former President Rajapaskhe had arrived in Sri Lanka in a Singapore Airlines flight from Thailand where he had stayed around   two weeks  .He had fled away from the country to Maldives in mid July and after staying there for a  few weeks he had flown to Singapore and thereafter to Thailand .

Several government ministers were present at the  Airport last night  to welcome the former president and heavy security had been deployed in and around the Katunayake Airport since yesterday it has been reported .He is expected to reside in a state bungalow at Nugegoda in Colombo district until the approval of his Green card in USA authorities have revealed .Although the former President had resigned from President's post before serving his full term he will be given all the privileges entitled to the  President's post and will be allocated and additional security government sources have stated .

The Galle face protesters who were behind the popular July  09th  uprising had demanded his resignation as a result of his mismanagement of Country affairs . 

 

Interim Budget Proposals Passed In The Parliament

 The onterim Budget proposals presented to tbe Parliament by President Ranil wikramasinghe as the finance minister had  been passed in the Parliament today (02) after it's second reading .

The Budget proposals had been passed with a majority of 115 votes as 05 MP|s had voted against it.Another 120 MP s had refrain from voting .

Price Of A Cigarette Had Been Increased

 As the Government had increased the Value added tax (VAT ) on goods  from 12 percent to 15 percent through the interim budget proposals presented to the Parliament recently ,Tobacco Companies had today (01)  increased the price of a Cigarette from four price categories 

Accordingly the Price of Cigarettes will be increased by Rs.3 ,5,10 and 15  respectively it has been announced .

No Price Revision For Fuel Today (01)

 Although a Price revision of Fuel is scheduled to be implemented today (01) under the  Price mechanism introduced for  Fuel  There will be no Price increase of fuel according to the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare .    

                                                                    

Price revision of fuel will be implemented after the resumption of   Sapugaskandxe Oil Refinery in full capacity .] he had stressed .

Sri Lankans Abroad Should Not Send Money Until Govt ,Ends Suppression Against Youth - Field Marshal Fonseka

 Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP representing Gampaha District Field Marshal General Sarath Fonseka had today (01) made a special request from the  Sri Lankan living  abroad not to send any money to the country until government ends the terrorism of suppression against local youth .

Protest  against the corrupt politicians and the  corrupt government has not ended as yet  and will rise again he had stated during the debate held in Parliament  today on the  second reading of the Interim budget of the government ,
