Colombo District MP of the main opposition Samagi Janabalawegaya (SJB) Party Patali Champika Ranawake had decided to become an Independent MP In Parliament from today (07).
Announcing his decision to become an Independent MP During a meeting held in Colombo today ,MP Ranawake has stated that he will not accept any Cabinet portfolio from the government but will submit proposals to government on how to solve power crisis .

Colombo High Court had today (06) sentenced Minister of Urban Development and Housing Prasanna Ranatunge to two year imprisonment suspended for five years over a case filed for threatening a businessman over the phone and demanding Rs.64 million ransom in 2015 ,
The High Court had also ordered the Minister Ranatunge to pay a fine of Rs.25 million and In the event of defaulting the fine the Minister was ordered to serve nine months imprisonment. In addition the High court had ordered the Minister to pay a compensation of Rupees one million to t he virtual complaint of the case ,Businessman Gehad Mendis had lodged a complaint against the Minister Ranatunge ,
Colombo Commercial High Court had today (06) suspended the injunction order issued by the Court Previously preventing the Russian national carrier "Aeroflot " flight from leaving Sri Lanka .
Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Harsha Sethunge had suspended the Injunction order issued by the Court on 02nd of June by preventing the "Aeroflot " flight "Airbus A-333-343" from leaving Colombo to Moscow in Russia after considering the motion filed by Attorney General .
Colombo Commercial High Court judge had earlier issued an Injunction order preventing the "Aeroflot " flight carrying more than 200 passengers from leaving Sri Lanka after considering a complaint made by Celestial Aviation Trading Company in Ireland .
