Sixteen Corona Positives had Been Reported Today (20)-All Were Arrivals From Chennai, India

A total of 16 Corona positives had been
reported in the country  today (20)  until 8.30 p.m ,increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 2918 according to Epidemeology Unit .

A Five Member Sub Committe Has Been Appointed To Make Constitutional Amendments During Yesterday's Cabinet Meeting

  1. During the first Cabinet meeting of the
    new government held yesterday  (19) under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapakshe at Presidential Secretariet in Colombo , A five member Cabinet sub committee headed by Minister of justice Ali Sabry has been appointed to make recommendations to the Cabinet on Constitutional amendments .

Accordinary the Cabinet sub committee is comprising of Ministers Ali Sabry, Nimal Siripala De Silva, Professor G.L. Pieris, Dinesh Gunawardane and Udaya Gammanpila.

If there's a need to appoint an expert committee to draft a new Constitution the Justice Minister Ali Sabry is being given powers to act on that it has been stated .

The Cabinet has also decided not to change some sections of the 19 th amendment introduced by the goof governance government including the limiting of President's term to two times, President's term duration of five years and the Right to information act according to sources.    

No Corona Positive Cases Reported Today (19)

No Corona positive cases has been
reported today  (19) up to 12 in the midnight in the country according to Epidemeology Unit .

Accordingly the total number of Corona positive cases reported in the country stands as 2902 and 131 Corona positives are being treated at Government Hospitals at present.

Two Murder Accused Elected To Parliament Representing Government Party Given Permission To Attend Opening Session Of Parliament

Two Courts in Ratnapura and Batticaloa
Districts had given permission to Two Murder accused elected to parliament by representing   the Governing Sri Lanka Podu jana Peramuna  party to attend the opening session of the 09 th Parliament scheduled to be held tomorrow  (20) for the first time in Sri lanka's  history.

Accordingly Choka Malli allias Premalal Jayasekare who was charged for a murder and sentenced to death by Embilipitiya court and former LTTE Member Pillayan allias Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan  who was charged for a murder and now serving a  prison sentence  were given permission to attend the Parliament sessions.

Parliament elect Choka Malli had been elected to parliament from Ratnapura District at the general election held recently by representing government party from Ratnapura District and Pillayan was elected to parliament from Batticaloa by representing government party ally TMVP Party.


Earlier even Genetal secretary of Parliament has told that Murder accused will not be  allowed to participate Parliament proceedings .

Ceylon Electricity Board Had Implemented A Daily One Hour Islandwide Power Cut For Four Days Since Yesterday (18)

An island wide one hour daily power
cut for 04 days has been implemented yesterday (18)by the Ceylon Electricity Board  (CEB) due to the short power supply to the National grid as a result of  non functioning of NorochCholai Power plant   according to Ceylon Electricity Board.

The Norochcholai Power plant became non functional after the Island wide power failure occurred last Monday Electricity Board Chairman Vijitha herath has stated .

Accordingly the country has been divided into four zones and daily one hour power  cut is being implemented from 6-7 p.m, 7-8 p.m  ,8-9 p.m and 9-10 p.m until Friday he has stressed.

If the Power demand is increasing then there will be a short  power cut during day time from today (19) for one hour and fourty five minutes .This daily day time power cut will be implemented in four zones from 10 am to 5 p.m daily causing inconvenience to the public .
