A Poison Has Been Detected In The Bodies Of Seven Deceased Female Elephants

Sone kind of Poison has been detected
in the bodies of the seven deceased Female Elephants recovered from Thunbikulama. Reserve at Hiriwadunna, Habarana according to the Veterinary Surgeon Chandana Jayasinghe .

Although pist mortums of the deceased Elephants had been concluded,  Further investigations needEd to be carried out to confirm the poisoning he has stressed. However there are no sufficient evidence to prove that the poisoning caused by the food provided by someone to the deceased female Wild Elephants Dr.Jayasinghe has stated.

The Joint search mission to  find out whether there are more deceased Elephants in the Thunbikulama reserve is currently underway according to reports .

Meanwhile State Minister of Wild Life Ranjith Aluwihare has stated that the government will take responsibility of the mysterious deaths of seven female Elephants. However the exact cause behind these deaths has not yet been revealed.

The body parts of the deceased Female Elephants had been sent to the Government Analyst for further investigations.

Enviornmental Organization's had appealed the government to impose severe punishment over those who had found  responsible for this crime .

UNP Has Invited SLFP For Presidential Talks -SLFP Secretary

United National Party (UNP)Has invited
Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) for the talks on getting support for forthcoming Presidential Election according to the General Secretery  of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Dayasiri Jayasekare.

SLFP Secretary has further stated that UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had invited the SLFP for talks through a fax message and Presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa through a telephone call .

Meanwhile President Maithripala Sirisena has today said SLFP can support Presidential Candidate of the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapakshe but couldn't support the Podu Jana PERAMUNA.

It was a decision taken by SLFP 's Central Committee President has stressed during a meeting held with Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe, Gotabaya Rajapakshe and Basil Rajapakshe regsrding the presidential   Election.

Eighteen Rabies Deaths Had Been Reported So Far This Year

 .

Eighteen Rabies Deaths had been reported during last Eight and half months of this year compared to the Twenty five Rabies Deaths reported during last year  (2018)says the Veterinary Doctor attached to the Public Veterinary Health Unit of the Ministry Of Health Dr.Ruvini Pimburage .

Addressing the Media at a press briefing held at Viharamahadevi Open Theater in Town Hall last friday (27)morning  ,Dr.Pimburage has stressed that around 3 million Dogs including domestic and stray Dogs  are their in Sri Lanka at present and the Public Veterinary  Health Unit is vaccinating 1.5 million Dogs a year to prevent spreading of Rabies .

Around 350,0000 DOG bites is being reported from Sri Lanka annually although a vaccination  programme for Dogs is being implemented Dr.Pimburage has stressed.

Everyone who got pet dogs and other pet animals should have vaccinated their pets as required she has stated .

A Walk to make public aware on Rabies had been conducted from Independence Square to Viharamahadevi Park on Friday morning prior to the press brirfing. Health Ministry officials along with Public Health Inspectors and Health workers had participated the walk .
