More Than 200,000 Residents In Kalutara Are Being Faced Drinking Water Problem-Water Is Distributing Through Bowsers

More than 200,000 residents in four

divisional Secretariets of Kalurara District are being faced with a shortage of  drinking water due to mixing of salt of sea water to the water of Kalu River it has been reported.

Due to this situation Disaster Management Center has taken steps to distribute drinking water to the people living in Kalutara,Beruwala,Panadura and Dodangoda divisional Secretariets  through bowsers .

Although the sea water has been  mixed with the water of Kalu River ,Water purification plant in Kethhena ,Kalutara is continuing supplying the water to the Kalutara District according to Water Supplies and Drainage Board.However Board does not encourage the public to use this water for drinking purposes other than washing and cleaning purposes it has been announced.

Sea water has mixed up with water in Kalu River due to the receding of  water levels in the river as a result of the present dry weather conditions .

A 21 Year Old Youth Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To A Road Accident

A 21 year old youth was  killed on thespot near Gammanpila Wewa(River)in Bandaragama ,Kalutara(Western Province) after the Motorcycle he was riding in colliding with another Motorcycle yesterday (11).

The other youth Motorcyclist had been critically injured and hospitalized due to the incident according to Bandaragama Police.The deceased was a resident of Bandaragama.

A Missing Welikada Prison Inmate Has Found Hiding Under A Roof

Welikada Prison Authorities have

found  a prison inmate who had been missing since last Wednesday (10)evening and hiding under a roof of the Prison building to find a way to escape from there it has been reported.

During the questioning the prison inmate has told the authorities that he wants to go home for the forthcoming Sinhala and Hindu New Year and to fulfil that expectation thought of finding a way to escape from prison   by hiding under the roof.

The suspect is being served a four year prison sentence at Chapal ward in Welikada Prison  over a robbery case .
