Seven MP"s To Face Legal Action Over Parliament Brawl Incident -Another Fifty Two MP's To Face Different Punishments Over The Incident

Parliament Privileges Committee has
yesterday  (08)decided to filed court cases against seven MP's including five Opposition and two Government MP's who had found guilty over the brawl incident occurred at Parliament on 14th ,15 th and 16 th of November last year.

Accordingly United People's Freedom Alliance  (UPFA)MP's Johnston Fernando ,Prasanna Ranaweera ,Padmasiri Udaya Shantha ,Dilum Amunugama and Ananda Aluth Gamage will be faced legal action against their Violent behaviour ranging from throwing chili powder ,breaking microphones on speakers table ,throwing chairs towards Policemen etc .
Two governing United National Party (UNP ) MP's Ranjan Ramanayake and Palitha Thewarapperuma have faced legal action over the charges of bringing knife to the Parliament.

Another 52 MP's including 49 Opposition UPFA MP's ,02 UNP MP's and a Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna  (JVP)MP who had been also charged on the incident will face  different punishments  soon according to Parliamentary sources .The Parliament Privilages Committee will be decided the action should be taken against them soon sources said .

A Committee appointed by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to probe on the Parliamentary brawl incident chaired by Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri has handed  over the Committee report to the speaker on 22 nd of January by levelling charges against  59 MP's over the incident .

Nine Persons Had Been Sentenced To Death At Chilaw High Court

Fernando has yesterday  (08)sentenced 09 persons who had found guilty over brutally  killing of a 27 year old person by using sharp objects nearly 18 years ago ,to death .

The accused including brothers of a same family had found guilty over killing of a 27 year olf L.Lionel Fernando of Mudukatuwa ,Marawila on or nearby  24 th of June 2001 by using sharp objects .Attorney General had filed indictments against the accused in Chilaw High Court over the incident. 

Homagama High Court Has Suspended The SiX Month Prison Sentence Imposed On Gnanasara Thero For Five Years

Homagama High Court has yesterday 
(08) suspended the six month prison sentence imposed on General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena Organization Venerable Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero over threatening and blaming Sandya Eknaligoda (Wife of missing cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda ) at Homagama Court premises ,for five years .

Homagama High Court Judge Amal  Ranaraja has announced the suspended Prison sentence for the imprisoned thero who is currently serving a six year imprisonment on contempt of Court charges ,as a verdict given over the appeal Gnanasara thero has  filed 19 th of June last year .

Gnanasara Thero filed the appeal against the six month prison sentence he has received from the Homagama High Court on 09 th of June over the threatening of Sandya Eknaligoda .

Gnanasara Thero was sentenced to six month prison sentence over threatening and blaming Sandya Eknaligoda at Homagama Court premises on 25 th of January 2016.

To participate the court hearing on his appeal Gnanasara Thero Had yesterday  arrived in Court from the Prison Hospital through a prison Bus it has been reported .

Earlier the Thero Has expected a Presidential pardon on his prison sentence currently serving over contempt of Court charges at the National Independence day .


Police Have Recovered Army Uniforms ,Caps And Ammunitions From.A House Belonging To A Smuggle Arrested In Dubai

Police have yesterday (07)raided the
house of underworld gang member  Anushka Kavished allies "Janga"  who was arresred with Drug kingpin Makandure Madush in Dubai and recovered 09 Army Uniform kits ,03 Army caps and T-56 firearms and ammunitions  at dikwella area ,Matara .

Police have arrested a relative of Kavished during the raid it has been revealed .

Meanwhile according to latest reports a local Police officer attached to UN Peace keeping force ,Two politicians attached to Kamburupitiya Pradeshiya  Sabha, a worker there, Businessman  and a prison Officer attached to Kalutara prison were among those arrested with Madush in Dubai .

Sri Lankan government is attempting to get back those arrested persons to Sri Lanka it has been revealed.
