Around 100 Feet Area Of Hatton -Bagawanthalawa-Balangoda -Maskeliya Road Along With Five Houses Washed Away To The Castlereigh Reservoir

Around 100 feet area of the Hatton -
Bagawanthalawa -Balangoda -Maskeliya main road had sunk around 10 feet deep and washed away to the Castlereigh Reservoir along with five houses in the area and a Soil Mound located above the road this morning  (15)according to sources .

The Hatton -Bagawanthalawa -Balangoda-Maskeliya main road had begun to sink since last morning (14) from NewWeligama in Norwood Police division it has been reported.

The section of the road ,Five houses and the soil Mound washed away to the Castlereigh Reservoir had been deposited in the Reservoir authorities have said.

Due to the Landslide threat families resided in the five houses which washed away had  been evacuated from the houses and moved to safe places recently.

As a result of the Landslide threat ,the road had been closed down temporarily few days ago.

An Indian Couple Was Arrested With A Haul Of Heroin

An Indian couple was arrested by the
Police Anti Narcotic Bureau officals at the Airport this morning  (15)with 2,04 Kilo Grammes of Heroin in their  possession at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport on their arrival.

The couple was  in the age group of 29 and 35 years and the estimated value of the  haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of the suspects  is around Rs.24.5 million.

Landslide Warnings Issued To Several Areas In Galle And Kalutara Districts

National Building Research
Organization (NBRO)has yesterday (14 )issued Landslide warnings to several areas in Galle and Kalutara Districts as a result of the adverse weather prevailing in these Districts at present .

Accordingly Thawalama, Neluwa, Elpitiya  Niyagama, Nagoda ,Baddegama and Yakkalamulla areas  in Galle District and Walallawita ,Bulath singhala,  Dodangoda, AgalaWatta, Mathugama and Palinda Nuwara in Kalutara District had been issued with Landslide warnings .

People in these areas should be vigilant over the  Landslide signs according to the authorities.
