A 44 Year Old Businessman Was Arrested With 20 Gold Biscuits In Possession At The Airport

A 44 year old Sri Lankan Businessman
who had arrived in from Dubai was arrested by the Anti Narcotic Division of Airport Customs this morning (30) at Katunayake, Bandaranaike International Airport while attempting to smuggle 20 Gold Biscuits illegally to the country .

The suspect who is a resident of Thi Hariya ,Nittambuwa area has been arrested after arriving at Katunayake Airport via a Sri Lankan Airlines Flight.

He has hidden the 20 Gold Biscuits weighing around 2 Kilo Grammes inside his luggage and his wallet it has been revealed.

The estimated value  of the Gold Biscuits recovered in possession of the suspect is around Rs.10.3 million. 

Two Pakistani Nationals Have Been Arrested Over Staying In The Country Without Valid Visas

Police have arrested two Pakistani
Nationals while staying in Sri Lanka without a valid visa at Welikada ,Rajagiriya area yesterday (29).

The two suspects who are 30 and 31 years old have been arrested while working at a Restaurant in Welikada area according to Police Media Spokesman'S Office.

The suspects are due to be produced before the Hulftsdorf Magistrate Court  for future action .

Two Persons Arrested With A Stock Of Cannabis During A Raid Carried Out At Cannabis Cultivation In Udawalawa Reserve

Police officers attached to Anti
Corruption Control Unit of Walana Police have raided a Cannabis Cultivation land secretly maintained at a 3 acre land area at Udawalawa reserve and arrested two persons along with a stock of dried Cannabis and recovered a  large number of cannabis plants recently.

The two  suspects have been handed over to Hambegamuwa Police for further investigations and the stock of dried Cannabis taken in to custody in possession of the suspects has been destroyed by the Police.

The estimated value  of the stock of Cannabis that was  destroyed is around Rs.3 million according to Police.

The raid was carried out as per the information received by Police regarding a Cannabis Cultivation maintained at Udawalawa Reserve by a person with the help of two others according to reports.

A Section Of The Nawalapitiya Main Road Has Been Inundated Around One Hour Due To Heavy Showers


Due to the heavy showers prevailing in  around 300 meter area of the Nawalapitiya main road was under flood waters for around one hour period  this evening (29 ) it has been reported.

Due to the risen water level shops of the city have been closed and transport activities have been also disrupted due to the situation according to the  reports .

As the drainage system of the Nawalapitiya Main road has been blocked flood waters receeding slowly and after the water receded the shops have been reopened and Transport activities have been resumed sources said.
