A Youth Parliament MP Was Arrested Over Raping Of A School Girl In North.

A 26 year old MP representing
Northern Province at the Youth Parliament attached to National Youth Services Council was arrested by the Pudukudiiruppu Police Over abducting and raping of a female  Advanced Level Student at Palai area on last Sunday (19).

The suspect who is resident of Palai area had abducted the girl who is sitting for the ongoing G.C.E Advanced Level Examination along with few others arrived in by a Van and Motorcycles on last Sunday while she was returning home after the examination it has been revealed.

The suspect had released the victim.on last Monday morning and the School.Girl who is a resident Of Mulathivu area had went home and complaint on the incident later to the  Police with her relatives.

The suspect is due to be produced before the xourtb

Four Persons Were Injured Due To A Road Accident

Four Persons Have been injured and
hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in veering off the road and toppled over to a nearby Canal at Denzil Kobbakaduwa road in Hingurakgoda-Airport main road last night (21).

The injured were admitted to the Hingurakgoda Provincial Hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred when the driver of the Three Wheeler unable to control the speed of the vehicle .

Hingurakgoda Police are investigating on the incident.

"One Hundred Seven Cities In Sri Lanka Now Completely Stopped Selling Cigarettes "-PHI Union

The Public Health Inspectors(PHI) Union had informed the Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne that the number of Cities in the country that  completely stopped selling Cigarettes to the public is 107.

This includes 22 cities in Jaffna District, 16 Cities in Matara District and 17 Cities  in Kurunagala District.


Due to the various steps taken against Cigarettes including the increasing of the tax percentage imposed on Cigarettes to 90 percent, Covering 80 percent area of the Surface in Cigarette Pack with warning massages ,Introduction of No Smoking Zones and limited the area near schools that selling Cigarettes the number of Cities stopped selling Cigarettes is on the increase the PHI Union has stated.

Meanwhile Health Minister is expecting the number of Cities that stopped selling Cigarettes to be exceeded  200 by the year 2019.
