Train Services Of The Colombo -Puttalam Railway Line Restricted To Lunuwila Due To Adverse Weather

The train services of the Colombo-Puttalam Railway line had been restricted to Lunuwila Train Station  since last night (21)due to the   overflowing of the Hamilton Canal at Thunmodara in Naththandiya area had submerged the Rail Track has been reported.

Due to this situation there is no Train service from Lunuwila to Puttalam ,But the Train services from Lunuwila to Colombo is functioning normally it has been revealed.As a result the Trains services in Puttalam,Chilaw,Madampe and Naththandiya are affected .

A Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To Motorccyle -Fuel Bowser Collision

Image result for accidentA 60 year old Motorcyclist was killed afte r the Motorcycle he was riding colliding with a fuel bowser at the Ragama Fly over bridge this morning (22).

The Motorcyclist was killed when he attempted to overtake the Fuel Bowser it has been revealed.The Driver of the Bowser along with the Bowser were taken in to custody by the Ragama Police over the incident.

The deceased was a resident of Lenchiya watte in Ragama.

Four Sri Lankans Were Arrested With Five Gold Pieces And Biscuits In Possession

Image result for katunayake airportFour persons have been arrested by the Airport Customs this morning (22) at the Katunayake,Airport while attempting to smuggle  five Gold Pieces and Biscuits to the country illegally by hidden them in their rectum and underwear .

The four   passengers  of the ages 38,39.44 and 45 years have arrived from Dubai with the Gold Pieces and Biscuits weighing around 450 grammes and one of them hidden two Gold Biscuits in his rectum and three others have hidden three Gold Pieces in their underwear and trouser pocket according to the Customs.

The suspects are residents of Colombo and Kegalle and the stock of Gold taken in to custody in theri possession is around Rs.2.7 million .

Airport Customs are investigating over the incident.

Water Level In Kelani River At Hanwella Area Is On The Rise

Due To this situation many low land areas around the river at Hanwella area are being submerged .

Electricity Supply To Four Areas In Ratanapura Cut Off

Due to the current flood situation  electeicity supply to four areas in Ratnapura District has been cut off to prevent any electricity related accidents according to the Ceylon Electricity Board.

Accordingly electricity supply to Kuruwita,Ehaliyagoda,Kiriella and Elapatha has been cut off .

Minor Flood Situation In Ratnapura To Be Developed In To A Heavy Flood Situation

The minor flood situation occurred in Ratnapura District due to the rising water level of Kalu river is developing towards a heavy flood situation as a result of the heavy showers prevailing in highland areas of Kalu River according to the Irrigation Department.

If the heavy showers prevailing in highland areas of Kalu River continues further occuring of the heavy flood situation is  inevitable the Department has stated.

Adverse Weather- Seven Persons Died And Nearly Thirteen Thousand Five Hundrad Persons Were Affected in Twelve Districts

Seven persons have died and nearly 13.500 persons have been affected due to the Adverse Weather Condition with heavy showers prevailing in 12 Districts in the Island according to the Department Of Irrigation.

Accordingly people living Colombo,Gampaha,Kalutara,Galle,Matara ,Hambanthota,Kagalle,Nuwara Eliya,Kurunagala,Ratnapura ,Puttalam and Kandy  areas are being affected due to Adverse Weather.

Due to the rising water levels of Kelaniya,GIn,Kalu,Nilvala and Attanagalu rivers prople lives  m low land areas around these rivers are being advised to be vigiland over possible floods.

Water level of tbe Kelaniya River from Awissawella to Nagalagamweediya is increasing rapidly and people lives in the low land areas near the river are being advised to evacuate their homes and move to safe places.

Meanwhile some schools in Ratnapura District have been submerged due to floods it has been reported.
