Navy Have Arrested 13 Indian Fishermen In Sri Lankan Waters

Sri Lanka Navy have yesterday (03) arrested 13 Indian Fishermen while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan waters waters near Delft Island in Jaffna along with two boats they arrived in  .

Navy and Fisheries Officials  are currently questioning the suspected  Indian Fishermen who had arrived in from Rameshwaram,South India on their illegal fishing activities in Sri Lankan waters.The Boats they had arrived in were handed over to the Fisheries Directors Office in Jaffan.

After questioning ,the group of Indian Fishermen are due to be produced before the Jaffna  Court.

Two Businessmen Were Arrested With A Stock Of "Beedi" Illegally Imported From India

Image result for arrestedExcise Officers in Vavuniya had arrested two businessmen who are illegally importing the tobacco product  "Beedi"  from India and distributed here with a stock of  "Beedi " in their possession at two trade stalls in Vavniya.
The suspects have imported "Beedi " illegally from India by Boats and sold   under a popular brand of "Beedi " produced in Sri Lanka it has been revealed.
The stock of "Beedi" taken in to custody in possession of the suspects is worth around Rs.1.4 million according to the reports.
The suspects are residents of Vavuniya District.

Two Persons Arrested Over The Death Of A British National, Whose Body Recovered In A Ground In Maligawatta

Image result for arrestedAs the death of a 37 year old British National whose body was recovered in a Ground at Araliya Uyana ,Maligawatte has been suspected as a murder ,Police have arrested two persons including a Three Wheeler Driver over the killing .

Police have also recovered the passport,Foreign Currencies ,the Air Ticket and a Wristwatch of the British national in possession of the suspects it has been revealed.

The deceased British National had been identified as a drug addict who had arrived in Sri Lanka last year to get treatment for the drug addiction from a Rehabilitation Center in Wadduwa area .However as he was caught by the Police over taking narcotic tablets and expelled him to Britain he had returned to Maradana area  without leaving the country it has been revealed during  the investigations carried out by the police.
At  Maradana  area he had met with  the three suspects arrested over his death and with them the British National had bought a narcotics worth around Rs.2000 from Granspass area and went to one of the suspects house .There somehow the Foreigner had fainted and the suspects had taken his body and left at the ground in Maligawatte according to the Police.

Due to the activities of those who had involved in
Central Bank Bond Scam the money belonging to the Employees Provident  Fund (EPF) was misused and a forensic audit examination need to be conducted to recover the exact amount of money belonging to EPF the Bond Commission has recommended in it's report ,President Maithripala Sirisena has stated yesterday (03) during his special speech delivered through the electronic media .

Those who were responsible for the misusing of EPF funds have been identified and the Bond Commission had recommended to punish them including Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palihena of Perpetual Treasuries Limited under the crimes and civil laws and to get the lost profit back to the government from them President has said.

An Elderly Couple In Jaffna Had Committed Suicide Over Inabilty To Pay A Loan

A sad story of an elderly couple who had committed
suicide by jumping in to a well at thenmarachchi area in Jaffna as a result of their inability to pay a loan they have taken ,was reported yesterday (03).

The bodies of the deceased velayudam nagamma (63)and  Sinnaia Velayudam (67) were recovered in the well by the residents of the area last noon.

The bodies of the deceased were sent to Chavakachcheriya Hospital for the post mortem.

World's second Japanese sponsored "Sakura Cherry Blossom flower tree planting project had been inaugurated in Badulle yesterday (03) by planting
a Sakura flower plant in Uva Wellassa University premises .

Under the project which is jointly conducted by Mejo University in Nagoya,Japan, Uva Wellassa University and Uve District Secretariat  around 100 Sakura flower plants are expected to plant in   Ella area,Badulla and incresing it to 1000 plants on it's first phase.

The only other Japansese sponsored Sakura Flower tree planting project is conducted in USA  it has been revealed.

A Person Was Sentenced To Death By The Colombo High Court Judge

A 53 year old person was sentenced to death by the
Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulathunge today (03) over who was found guilty on keeping 18.24 grammes of Heroin in possession and smuggling .

The accused who is a resident of Malwana area had arrested by the Police Narcotic Bureau in 2010 at Rajagiriya area.

The Special Presidential Commission Of Inquiry which
had investigated on the Central Bank bond scam recommended to file a law suit against Former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake over accepting the monthly rent which paid to a house of Former Finance Minister Karunanayake by the Raw and Walt company owned by the family of the Chief suspect of Bond scam Arjun Aloysius ,President Maithripala Sirisena had stated during a  live special speech delivered through the electronic media this evening (03)over the Bond Scam report.

A law suit should be filed against the Former Finance Minister at the Bribery Commission and another law suit should file against him under the penal code over providing false evidence to the Commission the President has stressed.

"Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has appointed former Central Bank governor Arjun Mahendran in a formal manner.However senior authorities of Central Bank were not active over the Mahendran's actions.Those who found guilty on connecting the Central Bank Bond Scam will be punished" he has stated.

The expenditure spent by the government on the Bond Commission will be taken from the Perpetual Tressuries Limited owned by Arjun Aloysius President has further said.

The report of the Bond Commission was handed over to the President on last Saturday.

Former Divulapitiya OIC Was Arrested Over A Death Of A Person In Police Custody

The former Divulapitiya Police OIC H.B Sumith Premakumara has was 
arrested today(03) by the Criminal Investigations Department(CID) over the death of a suspect while in police custody of Divulapitiya Police.

Divulapitiya Police have arrested a person regarding a minor charge on 02nd of October 2017 at Unumulla area  and later he was found mysteriously dead inside the Prison.

The Divulapitiya OIC was interdicted over the incident and later he was charged over the death of the person inside the prison .

The OIC is due to produced before the Negambo Magistrate Court .

A Liver And Two Kidneys Removed From A Brain Death Youth Had Airlifted And Transplanted To Three Patients

A Liver and two Kidneys removed from a 35 year old 
brain death youth in Polonnaruwa Hospital had airlifted to Colombo National and Kandy Teaching Hospitals by an Airforce Plane and transplanted them successfully to three patients according to the Hospital authorities.

This is the first time that three organs removed from a brain death patient had airlifted for transplant surgeries in Sri Lanka.

The liver was airlifted to Colombo National Hospital with the  assistance of a group of consultant surgeons sent to Polonnaruwa Hospital from Colombo and transplanted it to a 56 year old patient it has been revealed.

The two Kidneys airlifted had transplanted to two kidney failure patients at Kandy Teaching Hospital.

Air Force deployed it's Aircraft to bring the organs from Polonnaruwa Hospital after the discussions held between Health Minister and Airforce Commander .

Presidential Commission Of Inquiry On Serious Fraud And Corruption Had Handed Over Final Report Of Inquiry To The President

The Presidential Commission Of Inquiry appointed to
Inquire on Serious Fraud ,Corruption ,Misuse of State resources,Privilages,Power and Authority had  handed over it's final report to the President Maithripala Sirisena this evening (02)at the President's Office.

The chairman of the Commission P.Padman Surasena had  handed over the 1135 page report with the participation of five other members of the Commission. .

Four Persons Were Injured Due To A Gun Shooting In Grandpass

Four persons were injured ,two of them critically and
hospitalized this evening (02)due to a gun shooting incident at Nagalagamveediya in Grandpass area.

The injured were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.

A group of persons arrived in a Three Wheeler had shot at  the four persons who got injured.

Grandpass Police are conducting an investigations to arrest the gunmen.

Seven Estate Workers In Hatton Have Been Injured Due To A Leopard Attack

Seven estate workers attached  to  the Panmure Estate
in Hatton area were  injured and hospitalized due to a leopard attack this noon (02) .

The injured one female and six men have been admitted to the Dikoya Hospital and later transfered to Nawalapitiya Base Hospital for further treatment.

A Leopard who lives near a line room complex of the Estate had attacked the workers it has been revealed.

Wild Life officers had launched a search operation to capture the Leopard according to reports.

Six Navy Officers Who Are In Remand Over Abduction And Disappearance Of 11 Youth Were Further Remanded

Image result for remandedSix Navy Officers including the former Navy  Spokesman Commodore D.K.P Dassanayake  who were arrested and remanded over an abducting and Disappearing of 11 youth in 2008  have been further remanded until 16th Of January by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today(02).

The suspects were produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate today.

Meanwhile during the proceedings  Magistrate has stated that she will issue an open arrest warrant to arrest Lt. Commander Chandana Hettiarachchi who is charged over the abduction and disappearance of youth.

Officials Have Suspected The Fire That Erupted In Meethotamulle Garbage Mount May Be Due To An Increasing Levels Of Methane Gas In Air

Officials have suspected that the sudden fire that erupted in a part of a Meethotamulle Garbage Mount yesterday (01)may be due to  the rising levels of Methane Gas in the air of the area .

As the Garbage Mount is there in Meethotamulle area since long time ,The Methane Gas in the air has been  increased and currently on the increase  according to the Japanese Experts who had carried out a research on the Garbage Mount after the  Collapsing of a part of the Mount in   last April.The Experts have clearly stated on that in their report which was handed over to the President Maithripala Sirisena.

The Report also suggested  to cover the Garbage Mount to avoid a further collapse and to remove the residents from  the area.

Yesterday's fire had occurred in a part of a Garbage Mount near the Meethotamulle Rahula Collage in around 11 a.m and fire brigade had managed to doused the fire only  in the evening.

A Three Year Old Girl Child Was Killed After A Rukattana Tree Had Fallen Over Her

The critically injured Girl had succumbed to her injuries after transferring  to the Colombo National Hospital  from Homagama Base Hospital where she was admitted soon after the incident.

The tree cutters have been reported as fled away from the area as soon as they rescued the small girl and handed over her to her brother .

The Incident occurred while the small Girl was at her Grandfather's house in Homagama where a Rukattana Tree was cut nearby it has been revealed.The deceased was under a care of her 11 year old brother at the house yesterday as their mother was away from home and she got used to visit her Grandfather often according to the reports.

A Body Of A British National Who Had Died Mysteriously Recovered At Maligawatte

Image result for suicideMaligawatte Police have today (02) recovered a body of a 37 year old British National who was mysteriously died in a ground near the Pensions Department at Araliya Uyana area in Maligawatte area(Colombo).

Police have recovered the body as per an information received from residents of the area and there was a bleeding from his ears and nose and a wound has seen in his face it has been revealed.His passport too not there in his possession the Police have said.

The cause of the death has not yet been revealed.

The deceased who had arrived in Sri Lanka on 25th of November scheduled to leave the country yesterday (01) ,But he had extended his visas until 25th of January this year according to the Police.

Hulftsdorf Magistrate has arrived at the scene this noon to carry out Magistrate Inquiry.

Airport Customs Officers Arrested A Chinese National Attempting To Smuggle A Gold Chunk Out Of The Country

Airport Customs Officers have arrested a 30 year old
Chinese National while illegally attempting to smuggle a chunk of Gold weighing around one Kilo Gramme to Hong Kong at Katunayake International Airport this morning (01).

Airport Customs officers had recovered the chunk of Gold hidden inside  a small travelling bag carried by the suspect which contains tooth brushes,toothpastes and razors it has been revealed.

The 25 carrot chunk of Gold is worth around Rs.6.58 million according to reports.

Customs Officers are currently questioning the Chinese National regarding the incident with the help of an interpreter.


Fire Erupted In Meethotamulle Garbage Mount Was Doused

A Person Was Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle A Stock Of Wallapatta Out Of The Country

Airport Customs officers have yesterday (31)arrested a
31 year old Sri Lankan who had attempted to illegally smuggle 24.700 Kilo Grammes of an expensive "Wallapatta" known as "Gyrinops Walla" to Muscut City in Oman ,at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.

The estimated value of the stock of Wallapatta taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.21,40,000 it has been revealed.

The suspect who is a resident of Colombo was arrested while attempting to board a flight to Oman by carrying the stock of Wallapatta in his luggage.

A Sudden Fire Broke Out In Meethotamulle Garbage Mount

A sudden fire had broken out in a part of the
Meethotamulle Garbage Mount around 11 a.m this morning(01)near the Kolonnawa Rahula Collage where the part of a mount collapsed on 14th of April last year .

Four water bousars and three fire trucks are currently involved in dousing the fire it has been reported.No casualties have been reported.
