Government Nursing Officers Association Urged Medical Council To Implement Court Verdict On SAITM

Government Nursing Officers Association has yesterday (06)
urged  the Sri Lanka Medical Council to implement the Court of Appeals verdict  on registering medical graduates of Malabe Private Medical Collage(SAITM) without any delay.

The verdict given by the Court of Appeal regarding registering private medical collage students in Malabe is a fair one and Sri Lanka Medical Council as a responsible body of registering medical graduates in Sri Lanka should implement the verdict without making deceisions based on political agendas and trade union influence, president of the Nursing Officers Association Saman Rathnapriya has stated.

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday he has stated that his union as well as the  unions of professions supplementary to medicine and para medical services will support the court of appeals decision .

Maximum Retail Price fixed For Samba And Nadu Rice Varities

The Ministry Of Finance has fixed a maximum Retail price for Samba
and Nadu rice varieties with effect from midnight tonight(06).

Accordingly a kilo  of Samba should be sold for Rs.80 and a Kilo of Nadu Rice should be sold for RS.70 the Ministry has stated.

The maximum retail price has been fixed for Rice to avoid escalation of Rice Prices in the market .


Vehicle Of The CEO Of Malabe Private Medical Collage Had Been Damaged Due To A Gun Fire

The vehicle of the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Private
 Medical Collage in Malabe (SAITM) Dr.Sameera Senaratne had been damaged as the two unidentified men wearing full face helmets had opened fire on the vehicle short while ago it has been reported.

Dr.Senaratne has survived unhurt due to the incident which occurred near the Private Medical Collage in Malabe Police have stated.

Police are investigating to arrest the suspects it has been reported.

Two Youths Were Killed Due To A Three Wheeler-Lorry Collision

Two youths  were killed due to a Three Wheeler-Tipper vehicle
 collision occurred in Meegama-Welipanna area this afternoon (06)according to reports.

The two youth were killed and two were injured and hospitalized  after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in toppled over due to a collision with a Tipper.

The bodies of the deceased had been sent to the Nagoda Hospital.

Five persons  were in the Three Wheeler at the time of the accident according to the Police.

A room belonging  to an official residence of an Employee
Maskeliya Provincial Hospital was completely destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted this morning(06).

Hospital Workers along with the Residence in the area  doused the fire before spreading it further it has been reported.

The cause for  the fire has not yet been revealed.
