Jaffna Magistrate Has Remanded Seventeen Indian Fishermen Arrested In Sri Lankan Waters

Seventeen Indian Fishermen arrested by the Sri Lanka
Navy Personal while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan waters   were remanded until 05th of January by the Jaffna Magistrate  yesterday (22) after being produced before the Magistrate.

Navy Personal had also taken into custody the three fishing boats the fishermen were in and they were brought to Kankasanthurai it has been reported.

The Indian fishermen who were arrested at waters in Naduntheevu (Northern Sti Lanka)area are identified as residents of Rameswaram and Jagadapattinam at  Pudukottai District in Tamil Nadu.


Two Line Houses Gutted Down In Nawalapitiya Due To A Fire

Two line houses had been gutted down and an  estate
worker was injured and hospitalized  due to a sudden fire erupted at line homes in Galaboda Estate,Nawalapitiya (Central Province) today.

The injured estate worker who was injured while trying to douse the fire along with other estate workers admitted to the Nawalapitiya Hospital for treatment Nawalapitiya Police have stated.

The cause of  the fire has not yet been revealed.



Police Arrested A Youth Who Tried To Pay Electricity Bill By Using Fake Currency Notes

Anuradhapura Police have today (22)arrested a youth
who tried to pay electricity bill by using five fake currency notes of Rs.1000 at a super market in Anuradhapura Town.

After the youth paid the electricity bill by using fake currency notes, on suspicion the cashier of the super market has informed of the payment to Anuradhapura Police after confirming  the currency notes paid by the youth were fake.

Police Officers who arrived at the scene had arrested the youth and recovered another five fake notes of Rs.5000 and one currency note of Rs.1000 in his possession.

Police have handed over the youth to Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigations.

Customs Recovered A Stock Of Aprons And Gloves With Printed Images Of Lord Buddha At A Colombo Harbor Ware House

colombo harbor க்கான பட à®®ுடிவுSri Lanka Customs Officers have today(22) recovered 904 cartons contains stocks of  Aprons and Gloves with printed images of Lord Buddha at a Ware House BQ-4 in Colombo Harbor.

These containers contains  Aprons and Gloves with images of Lord Buddha are arrived in Colombo Harbor from tuticorin in India and due to transport them to Slovania according to Customs Officers.

Printing the image of a Religious Leader in a consumer good is against the law and a legal action can be taken against the persons who are responsible for this act the Customs media spokesman Dharmasena Kahandawa has stated.
