New Drug Price Reduction Mechanism Has Been Introduced Today(23) To Reduce Prices Of 47 Essential Drugs

The chairman of the Independent Medicinal Drug Authority Professor Asitha Silva has today(23) introduced a new Drug Price Reduction Mechanism for 47 highly priced  essential drugs for the benefit of patients in the country.

By introducing the Mechanism at the Professor Senaka Bibile Commemorative Ceremony held at  Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo 07 this evening Professor Silva has stated that under the Drug Price Reduction Mechanism  47 widely used Drugs prescribe for. Heart Diseases ,Diabetes.High Blood Pressure and other common non communicable diseases will be reduced.

This Price Reduction Mechanism will be implemented after Gazette the Mechanism it has been revealed.

The new Mechanism has been introduced under the National Drug Policy and it's based on National Essential Drugs List he has further added.

Meanwhile addressing the gathering the chief guest of the Professor Bibile Commemoration Health Minister Dr.Rajitha  Senatatne has stated the newly introduced Drug Price Reduction Mechanism will be the first step of National Drug Policy to reduce prices of essential drugs in the local market.

He appealed  the authorities involved in importing of Drugs to Sri Lanks not to do business  when importing the drugs The .Biggest Business they can do is to serve patients  Minister has stressed.

Security Guard Attached To Sugar Corporation Was Killed Due To A Wild Elephant Attack in Buththala

A Security Guard attached to the Palawatte Sugar Corpoation in Buththala area had been killed due to a wild elephant attack occurred early this morning according to the Buththala Police.

The deceased has been identified as a 52 year old resident in palawatte area.His body was sent to the Buththala Rural Hospital for the post mortem.

Buththala Police are conducting an investigations on the incident.

Department For Registration Of Persons (Identity Card Office)To Be Shifted To "Suhurupaya"In Battaramulla From 27th Of September

The Department For Registration Of Persons (Identity Card Office) will be shifted to "Suhurupaya" in Battaramulla with effect from 27th of September the government information department has today (22) announced.

Due to the shifting process The one day service of the Department conducting to issue National Identity Cards will not be held on 23rd and 27th of September it has been reported.

However after shifting to "Suhurupaya" all the activities of the Department will be commenced as usual  from 27 the of September the Information Department has stated.

The Department Of Immigration And Emigration (Passport Office) too had shifted to the "Suhurupaya"in Battaramulla recently.

Speaker Informed The Parliament On The Supreme Court's Decision On Nation Building Tax

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has today (22)informed the Parliament that the Supreme Court has declared the amended bill on  Nation Building Tax is in accordance with the constitution in Sri Lanka.

The nation building tax is payable by  every individual,company , body or partnership who imports any article( other than any excepted article and any article in the personal baggage )to Sri Lanka  or carries the business of manufacturing of any article other than any excepted article.

Cricketer Ramith Rambukwella Has Been Arrested By The Police Following A Car Accident In Independance Square

A cricketer Ramith Rambukwella who is the son of  former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has been arrested by the Cinamon Garden Police in wee hours of this morning following his car driven by him crashed into a wall at Independance Square in Colombo.

Rambukwella has been reported under the influence of liquor at the time of the accident according to the police.

However layer he has been released on police bail according to sources.
