No Confidence Motion Against Finance Minister Was Defeated At The Parliament With Majority Of 94 Votes

Image result for sri lanka parliamentThe no confidence motion submitted against finance minister Ravi Karunanayake was defeated this evening at the Parliament while 145 out of 225 MP'S in the Parliament voted against the motion and only 51 MP's voted in favor of it.

The no confidence motion which was scheduled to be taken into debate yesterday(08) was postponed until today(09) by the speaker Karu Jayasuriya due to a technical fault of the house.

No Confidence Motion against Finance Minister was signed and  handed over to the Parliamentary Speaker by 37 MP'S of the joint opposition group on 24th of March by accusing the Minister for  providing false information to the house including some proposals of the budget-2016.

Sri Lanka Announced A Landmark Law To Recognize Missing Persons In War As Dead

Image result for sri lanka war missing peopleSri Lankan Government has yesterday(07) announced a landmark law to recognize the estimated 65,000 persons who are still considered as missing due to the war in the north and east provinces between Sri Lanka Armed Forces and LTTE  which ended seven years ago as dead.

 According  to the new law the relatives of the missing people will be able to claim inheritances it has been reported. 

The Cabinet Ministers have approved a draft bill  to issue certificates of absence to the relatives of  those missing during the 37 year old war.

Under the current law families cannot claim inheritances left by missing relatives unless there's a proof that they are dead.

Debate On No Confidence Motion Against Finance Minister Has Been Postponed Until Tomorrow(09)

A debate regarding the no confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake scheduled to be held this afternoon at the Parliament has been postponed as the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has adjourned the Parliamentary Sessions until tomorrow(09) due to a malfunctioning of the Microphone System in Parliamentary Complex.

The Parliamentary Debate on the no confidence motion against Finance Minister is due to be held tomorrow(09) it has been announced.
