Disaster Management Center Has Issued Landslide Alerts To Five Districts Again

The Disaster Management Center(DMC) has this evening again issued a landslide alerts to five districts in the country if the prevailing heavy showers in those districts continues further.

Accordingly people in District Secretariat Divisions in Kandy,Ratnapura,Kegalle,Nuwara Eliya and Kalutara Districts are advised to be vigilant on the situation.

Former Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage Surrendered To The Court Regarding Baby Elephant Case

Image result for courtThe former additional magistrate in Colombo Thilina Gamage who is charged for keeping a baby elephant in his possession without a valid license has today(02) surrendered to the gangodawila magistrate's  court regarding the charges.

He was later released on bail .

The former Colombo additional magistrate has been sent on compulsory leave regarding the charges against him on keeping a baby elephant in  possession without a valid licensee.

There's an ongoing investigation on the case against former additional magistrate gamage and he is also due to appear before Criminal Investigations Department(CID) to give a statement regarding the charges.

Consumer Affairs Authority Permitted Five Cement Companies To Increase The Price Of 50 KG Cement Pack

Image result for cementThe Consumer Affairs Authority has today(02) gave permission  to five companies to increase the price of 50 Kilo Gramme pack of Cement by Rs.60 it has been reported.

This price increase will be effective from 01st of June according to the Consumer Affairs Authority.

Army Have Called Off Rescue Operations At Aranayake Landslide Site

The Army Personal who  involved in rescue operations at Aranayake Landslide site in Kegalle District(In Central Province) since two weeks have called off their operations today(02).

The Army Personal have recovered 24 bodies of  victims who died at the  landslide site since 17th of May the day which the landslide has destroyed three villages in Aranayake Area.

Although government has stated around 99 persons reported as missing due to the landslide ,The Sri Lanka  Red Cross Society has announced around 220 families were reported as missing.

Mental Health Division In Ministry Of Health Begun Mental Counseling Services For Mentally Affected Flood And Landslide Victims

The Mental Health Division of  the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has begun mental counseling services for those in displaced camps who are mentally affected badly due to the recent floods and landslides according to the director of Mental Health in the Ministry Dr.Chitramali De Silva.

Addressing a special press conference held at Health Education Bureau in Colombo this morning Dr.Chitramali has stated that most of the flood and landslide victims who lost everything including property are in prone to  mental disorders like depression and mental stress .

 Soon after the floods and landslides which occurred in 22 districts of the country two weeks ago the Mental Health Division of the Health Ministry has given a special training to it's mental health staff on mental health counseling and they have given the counseling services to the mentally affected victims in displaced camps during last two weeks she has stressed.

There are some mentally affected victims residing in displaced camps in floods and landslide hit areas who had lost property and all their belongings,most of the school children in these camps 
are in stress condition as they lost their school books and uniforms Dr.Chitramali has further stated.
