Eighty Four Camps Established In Nine Districts For Those Affected Due To Adverse Weather Conditions

Image result for ministry of health sri lanka logoAccording to the Disaster Management Unit attached  to Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine 84 camps have been established in 9 districts for those who affected due to adverse weather conditions prevailing in the country.

These Camps are situated at Colombo,Kilinochchci,Mannar,Kandy,Matale,Puttalam,
Kurunagala ,Gampaha and Kegalle Districts the Disaster Management Unit has stated.

A disaster management medical units have been established in government hospital on district basis and a doctor each was appointed to each district to coordinate disaster management activities the director gerneral of health services dr.palitha mahipala has stated during a special press briefing held today(17) at Health Education Bureau in Colombo.

A special programme has been implemented to uplift the health facilities of these people staying at camps including providing good quality food, drinking water and sanitary facilities in view of preventing the spreading of epidemics dr.mahipala has stressed.

A programme has implemented to hospitalized the  preganant mothers,small children and elderly mothers in the camps when need arise he has stated.

Medical Supplies Division has issued chlorine tablets for the flood affected areas to chlorinate the drowned wells and drinking water facilities dr,mahipala has further said.

Six Persons Are Missing Due To A Landslide In Kadugannawa

Six Persons belonging to two families are missing due to a landslide occurred in ilukwatta area in Kadugannawa-Kandy according to the Disaster Management Center(DMC).

The Army with the help of residents in the area have launched a search operation to find out the missing persons DMC has stated.

President Sirisena Has Instructed The Authrorities To Provide Relief To Flood Victims

President Maithripala Sirisena has today(16) instructed the authorities to provide immediate relief to  people who affected due to the adverse weather conditions.

President has also advised the authorities to issue necessary  funds to supply food and other essential facilities.

During a special meeting held at the presidential secretariat today to discuss on the measures should be taken to provide relief to the displaced people ,president has instructed the relevant authorities including the disaster management center ,inspector general of police ,tri forces commanders and the defense secretary to be on alert on future disaster situations.
