Supreme Court Has Today(16) Dismissed The Petition Filed By Former UNP MP Rosy Senanayake Regarding Recounting Votes

Supreme Court has today(16) dismissed the petition filed by former United National Party(UNP) Parliamentarian Rosy Senanayake seeking recounting of the Colombo District preferential votes at the last General Elections .

The petition has requested the court to issue an order to elections commissioner requesting a recounting of the preferential votes in Colombo district ..

The bench comprising Chief Justice K.Sripavan has made the decision to dismiss petition when the petition was taken up for hearing today.

Entry And Exit Points Of Southern Expressway's Biyagama-Kaduwela Interchange Has Closed

Due to the flooding of the Biyagama Road  the entry and exit points of  southern expressway's interchange at  Biyagama-Kaduwela road has temporarily closed according to the Road Development Authority.

Three Flights Bound For Katunayake Air Port Diverted To Cochin And Mattala Air Ports

Three Flights bound at Katunayake Bamdaranaike International Air Port have diverted to Cochin Air Port in India and Mattala International Air Port in Hambanthota  due to adverse weather conditions prevailed in Colombo it has been reported.

The three flights arrived from Malaysia ,India and Dubai have been diverted according to the authorities.

Due to the heavy showers and strong winds prevailing in the country since last Saturday floods and long travel delays have been reported from many parts in the island.

Irrigation Department Requested People Living On The Banks Of Six Rivers To Be Alert On Floods

The Irrigation Department has today (16)requested people living on the banks of  Six Rivers in the island to be on alert on floods as the water levels of them are increasing to major flood.

Accordingly flood alerts issued to the  people living on the banks of Kelani Ganga,Maduru Oya,Maha Oya,Mahawali Ganga,Kelani Ganga and Attanagalu Oya.

Meanwhile seven spill gates of Daduru Oya were opened yesterday(15) as water level reached it's spill level .Authorities have requested the people living in Puttalam,Chilaw,Mahawa,Pallama, Nikaweratiya and Bingiriya to be vigilant .
